Henry Cavill to actually star in a Highlander reboot
Actually star as in "confirmed it on his Insta," and also he's been a long-time fan of the show, because of course he has.

I'm very much looking forward to a reworking. Let's turn it all on its head. Let's not have Brenda ditch Connor and conveniently free him up for a new woman every film. Let's not curse Duncan with a "no marriage fate" so Tessa doesn't die (I know Alexandra wanted to leave, they didn't have to kill her). Let's not have skeevy colonialist overtones where Duncan teaches Midori Kent (a Japanese character played by Tamlyn Tomita) the meaning of honor in the Japanese fashion. Let's keep Rebecca alive because her husband isn't such a fucking know-it-all goddamn idiot. Can we just not even with the Cassandra skeeve and maybe have her be a sacred oracle instead?
Richie being... Oh, God, Richie's characterization being consistent and. Goddamn, Clan Denial, you know what I mean.
Don't get me wrong. I love this show! I should probably accelerate my plans to pick up the rest of the films and The Raven on DVD before the new film comes out. (Yes, even The Source, I want to mock that "Duncan, Methos, and Joe have a Mad Max fever dream" again.)
But I would appreciate more goddamn canon, and canon that doesn't tragically kill Alexa to give Methos some Immortal angst would be pretty damn kickass. There are PLENTY of reasons she could give him immortal angst without Tragic Cancer Death.
Could you fucking imagine the threat of Alexa hanging over Methos' head with Kronos? Having her hidden away and him playing a balancing game with Kronos and trying to keep him from finding out about her? Dear God, the angst of a beloved wife under threat the whole time? The angst of a wife finding out what he used to be? (Yes, you might ship Duncan/Methos and that's fine, we can have that too. The man is 5000, there's plenty of room for both of them.)
I, for one, am all over this Henry Cavill reworking. Because why not, right? My one sadness is that
celli has moved out of state and I will be forced to find someone else to go and see it with.
