I am disenchanted with Dracula, but will probably watch it to the end anyway.

Lucy confessed her love for Mina, who promptly rejected it and assumed that Lucy had been lying about ALL THE THINGS and kicked her ass out. Because, as you know, lesbians that crush on their straight friends ONLY AND EVER want to get in their friends' pants. Or skirts, as the case may be. Because it's not love, it's queerness, and you know that's wrong without even thinking about it too hard.

The next episode, Mina promptly spent the entire episode being extra, extra straight and mooning over Dracula and how ~generous~ and ~kind~ he is, while ignoring the fact that Lucy existed, and kind of mostly ignoring the fact that Jonathan existed. Mina was kind of a bitch that ep, because the plot needed her to spend time with Dracula instead of anyone else. Apparently Mina is also stupid, because she somehow has managed to avoid noticing that Dracula's a little obsessed with her, which, even you only look at the series from her POV, you notice that he's all sympathetic to her only, and gives her scandalous carriage rides, and are you kidding me? Like people aren't going to be gossiping that he's banging Jayne and stringing this poor middle-class girl along to be his mistress too once he seduces her?

To be clear, I do not think Mina is stupid. I think the plot needs Mina not to notice these things, and also the plot needs upper class Victorian England not to be a hotbed of gossip or something either. I suppose you could make an argument that Mina is one of those book-smart, bad with people kinds of people, except she's not that way all the time, only when the plot needs her to be. Inconsistent writing is kind of a hallmark here.

Unfortunately, poor, heartbroken Lucy ran right to Jayne to confess her tale of woe, and Jayne, as an evil bisexual, is wooing Lucy to the dark side of evil lesbianism with girlkissing. I WISH I WERE KIDDING.

Also, Jayne somehow manages to convince Lucy that Mina really wants her underneath all the layers of Victorian prim-and-properness, and that the only way to get Mina to admit it is to, get this, have Lucy seduce Jonathan and show Mina what a cad Jonathan really is. So Lucy is, for some reason, helping to fit Jonathan for a suit, because somehow an upper-class Victorian lady is doing this and Jonathan has NO IDEA that it's not scandalous at all, because, what, he's never been to a tailor before? Jonathan is a JOURNALIST, or former journalist, and has been proven to be suspicious of people when he's got good reason to be. How is he not noticing this? Has Mina really been so absent-minded as not to say, "Oh, darling Jonathan, Lucy and I are on the outs because I think she's been trying to use her friendship with me as a method of seduction for years. BECAUSE EEK GAY COOTIES." (Never mind the fact that they've demonstrably shared a bed many times and Lucy has never once made a move prior to her rather dramatic declaration of love to Mina.)

You know, honestly, it's really bad when a show is making me root for lesbians dying, because it's less painful to watch than this utter and unbelievable dreck. I don't even want Lucy to be a vampire, because, seriously, I cannot take this any more. Write all the lesbians and bisexual women off the show; it will be less horrid that way. It will actually be less painful if Jayne and Lucy pack their suitcases and found a lesbian artists colony together in the far north of Scotland, well away from all the action.

Oh, show. Please be over soon. (Or let me buy Lucy and Jayne a set of watercolors and a couple of bus tickets to Glasgow.) I cannot take much more of the evil lesbian plot.
