Just like in The Avengers, they've pulled together a team of people who should, by all rights, have their own comic series and who then have to team up in order to get things done.
You have Melinda May, the battle-weary veteran, who has come out of retirement desk duty in order to, I don't know, do good things and make sure that the kids don't get in trouble. She even has her own name: The Cavalry.
There's Ward, the icy, James Bond-like loner who is near perfect with the spy shenanigans and who has no clue whatsoever how to deal with people, and is not even close to used to working with them.
Fitz and Simmons obviously have their own pair-up series already (Fitz/Simmons, yes), because they come as a unit (much like Cloak and Dagger, only THANK GOD, with less boobtastic costumes and more than a little less stereotyping, not to mention a whole lot more science), and they're obviously the science geniuses who did their own thing before.
And of course you have Skye, the hacker/anarchist who is a member of what looks to be a loosely-organized group of idealists who is infiltrating SHIELD in order to-- I don't know? Expose it? But you have the hacker genius anarchist spy (a genius who is actually good with people, THANK YOU, MARVEL) who totally had her own anarchist hacker adventures on her own. I mean, she tails people! Rather well!
Plus you have Coulson, the affable friendly neighborhood agent who is your (main) crossover character from The Avengers, and who is charged with making this team of not-quite-misfits-just-(mostly)-new-to-teams also into a workable team.
ALSO. OH MY GOD. THEY GOT NICK FURY IN EPISODE TWO.
Plus Maria Hill, who is never not awesome, and Ron Glass doing some sort of doctory agent thing, not to mention Mike, whom I would love to see back again.
Anyone know a comm where I can find icons?
