To be fair, I've crammed the majority of my work into two and a half days of it. On the plus side, I'm mostly done for the week already.
Open post, fandom-themed, but not really. PLEASE, someone distract me from schoolwork. I can't even think about space vampires at the moment, it's that bad.
Anyone around? Want to tell me what you're watching this summer? What you're not watching?
Doctor Who comments? It feels like the first part of a two-parter; I will reserve most judgment, but when it comes to Clara,
I'm not particularly pleased about why she's the impossible girl. Okay, great, she saves the Doctor. That's her whole purpose in life, though? To be born to split herself through the Doctor's timeline and save him again and again and again? That's...boring. Couldn't she have been Susan's granddaughter? That would have been absolutely fascinating. (I love Susan.) Or basically somehow not having her specialness entirely revolve around the Doctor. Not to mention River, where
I saw some people who took that as her final goodbye, but I don't necessarily think so. I think it could be echo-of-River playing pretend, sure, but it seems more likely that River's got another ace up her sleeve and we'll see her again, not just echo-River in the library. Which would make me MUCH HAPPIER. Not in an "everyone lives" moment, but in a "if River is as good as the Doctor, and she is, then how come she goes out so early" thing. Maybe it's because I have this serious fascination with badass couples watching each other's backs and taking out each other's enemies. (I blame Star Wars, FWIW. Leia/Han. There you go.)
Arrow season finale. Anyone have words?
I'm stunned that Arrow, a CW show, has allowed two black men to have actual dignity, equality, and agency throughout the season. CW, please keep this up, and maybe port it over to Vampire Diaries, please?
Tommy seems dead. Rebar through the chest is usually a sign of that, but God knows, Buffy managed rebar through some quite sensitive areas of Cordelia's abdomen and she didn't even have a scar. So there's real injury and tv injury, and I'm not sure which Arrow will portray it as.
I was rooting for Tommy, especially as one of the people to have sensible, normal-person reactions, and for being a guy who was messed up without trying to excuse himself for it, but while trying to get it together. He wasn't particularly woobiefied, and he and Lauren were adorable together. Though if he wakes up and finds out that Oliver killed his dad, his tenuous grasp on with-it-ness will probably go to hell.
THEA. ROY. Maybe they can share the Speedy identity. I would be ecstatic about that. And Moira, I love her (she's schemey) and want to find out what happens.
Felicity is never not awesome. Same with Laurel. Quentin got a great journey for someone who was there to be the jerkface detective.
Anyone else caught up on Warehouse 13? I stopped the last episode partway through because
I didn't want Kelly Hu to die or be uncovered as evil or whatever they always do with her, because I desperately want her to be a new regular on the show instead. So maybe someone who watched the whole last episode can set my mind at ease?
This is the first summer without new Leverage. I've got the first four seasons on DVD, and I can watch the commentaries (and read the metric fuckton of fic I have saved on Instapaper to read), but it's not the same. Anyone know when or if season five is going to be released?
