Connecticut

The Guardian's liveblog coverage of the Connecticut grade school shooting.

According to the article: White House spokesman Jay Carney said today is not the day to discuss gun control.

"I think that day will come, but today's not that day, especially as we are awaiting more information about the situation," Carney told reporters at a briefing.

Today's not the day? Oh, I think today is the motherfucking day. (Yes, I am a liberal. No, I am not anti-gun, in that I don't want them entirely banned. But am I in favor of really strong gun control laws? HELL. YES.)

Excuse me, because my sense of empathy and my horror at the idea of that happening to anyone, especially a bunch of grade school kids, is getting pretty overwhelmed. Especially because all I can think is "What if that happened to my son? What would I ever do?"

My sympathies go to anyone and everyone affected by this.
