It's Harry/Luna, and Ron/Hermione, and Ginny's their semi-grouchy mechanic! She knows Muggle technology, which is so adorable. (Me and my daddy's girl thing love that ( Read more... )

just a little fic bit to tide you over for the month, complete with an easter egg of a crossover.

Ginny stood at the far gate in front of the tumble-down house. The edges of the house blended with the darkness and so her childhood home loomed gigantic, impenetrable. Light shone from the kitchen window; Mum was up. Ginny's fingers gripped the wooden fencepost tightly and she rest her forehead on her hands. She could do this. She had to do this. She might not get another chance ( ... )

(to be perfectly honest, this was written to tide me over. Got the idea stuck in my head and couldn't do anything else until it was down on paper. Oh, if you're curious, Arthur was in his shed. He was going back to the house when he saw someone by the gate.)

Oh, I'm just so glad that you wrote this! For one, I'm kind of a daddy's girl, so I love seeing father-daughter relationships, and for another, I was pretty bummed at having to wait a whole month for more.

This whole series is just so wonderful. I'm really enjoying it, thank you!

Some men return to the site of their first encounter. Others prefer the location of their first date or favorite restaurant. Some will orchestrate something elaborate-- a fairytale evening or a long walk through old, familiar places.

Harry squirted some lemon juice into a bowl and began to paint a stripe around their hotel room. The ring sat inside its egg on top of the television set.

Luna would come back, smell the lemons, see the egg, and know. Then he would stop painting and ask and she would say yes.

Harry, still painting, glanced over to the door. He hoped she said yes.

Luna caressed the egg in her hands, knowing very well what she'd find inside and wanting to savor the moment. She knew Harry was watching, waiting for her reply. The room still smelled like lemons and Luna thought that she would forever associated that scent with happiness. She opened the egg. The ring sat on its pillow inside. The ring was neither gold nor silver and had no stone; it was perfect, unique, hers and no one else's. "Yes," she said and Harry's eyes widened as though he couldn't believe her and she slipped the ring on her finger to show she was serious. Harry pulled her into a kiss, quick and excited. The ring was cool on her finger and felt strange, awkward, but right.

Ron found Hermione in her library. He'd helped her fit the shelves in himself so that they filled every available centimeter of wall space. The shelves weren't full yet, but they would be. Hermione was sitting in the back corner with all the books she'd read as a child. Occasionally Ron added a book or two for the kids he hoped to someday have with Hermione. He joined her on the floor and Hermione leaned against him. "I talked with Mum," Ron said. "She's promised to look in every few days and keep your books dusted ( ... )

Quick exp: When they first arrived back in England, Ron and Hermione got a hotel room adjacent to Harry and Luna's. It was closer to the Ministry and this way they avoided any questions from people about where they'd been/etc. After making the decision to go, they went back to their home to tie up some loose ends. Pack more than just summery clothes. Etc.
