Being a product of my own silly imagination, it's hard to call me on what's ic and what's not when it comes to my beloved sharpshooter. But if anything bothers you about him, feel free to comment here!

Original Application oo1 oo2 oo3 oo4 ABILITIES: First thing first; his eyes. Well, okay, maybe not. More like those nanobots. They do everything -- or at least, they should. That's what he was promised, enhanced everything. What he really got was limited regenerative abilities and jack shit else. But he doesn't care; he's a crack shot with or without nanobots. Still targets have a 100% hit rate, moving is clocked at 97% -- the highest known (yet tied) success rate within either army (without technology/implants/DNA changes) if it was public knowledge, which it isn't, because Kal isn't public knowledge anymore. But back to those eyes, well -- actually they're nothing special. But the time you waste looking at them is all he needs to have you pinned to the floor with a Walther PPK (his favourite of his handguns) to your head and an all-too-itchy trigger finger just waiting for you to exhale. Kal is a trained fighter through and through, and though he prefers the detachment of a gun, when forced into a confrontation he has a wide range of martial arts knowledge to choose from, favouring Thai boxing. He's also got noted skill with a sword, however he does not nor ever wishes to own one. (It's a daddy thing. Should his file ever resurface, it would be the only record of this, as he shows absolutely no interest in swords.) Oh, and he doesn't dream, to his knowledge. He thinks it counts as 'special'. Kal taught himself to be ambidextrous, and though he doesn't have a photographic memory he does have a sharpshooters mind, capable of memorizing the most minute details of a location.
PERSONALITY: Kal plays it tough, plays it cool, and plays it somewhat detached while charming. The key word? Plays. To Kal, it is all an act, a mixture of the truth and lies, little twists on stories here and there, a good ear and a knowledge of how to gain pity. Because he spent the majority of his childhood shooting down assigned targets, because he was raised to never act without all the information he could obtain first, Kal has become hardened and doesn't particularly care for people, even those he's related to. However, being a sharpshooter and information gatherer, Kal is painfully aware of how little a detached and aloof persona can gain. Due to this, he plays it tough, cool, charming. He's flirtatious, brash, speaks what is apparently his mind and apologizes softly and quickly, shying away from the majority of conflict though never wishing to appear weak. He keeps his past as a mixture of the truth and enigma, not too bothered by the majority of it, and he sells himself to the general public as half of his military designation; Snow, a former soldier of technolgy, a nanobot-infested hopeful (when he can be bothered talking). Because he's not concerned with the difference between truth and lies unless it comes down to money (a boy has to eat) Kal finds it easy enough to adpot his easy-going persona and is a flawless liar, capable of blending his lies into his truths and never forgetting who knows what about him. The only flaw in his armor is his mind; cold, cunning, and always working, any empath or mind reader would be able to call him out in a heartbeat. Kal is very glad the opposing side never quite got that part of their research right.
In truth, Kal is cynical, bitter, quiet, and something of a loner. He has no issue with resorting to violence, often to a disgusting degree, and shows no remorse in having to take a life. He withholds his name in all situations, partially out of secrecy, partially because he's so damned used to his military designation, and he has come to be quite nervous of anyone (or thing) knowing his name -- it implies a much closer bond than he allows people. He enjoys his distance, and when he doesn't see a need to be around people, he will just settle back into a corner somewhere to watch the world by himself.
However, Kal is neither Kal nor Snow any longer. Though he finds it easier to play it off as Snow, the Kal he has allowed himself to build up is yet another facade. The truthful and honest Kal that his mother lost to his fathers desire for another soldier still exists, and is evident in Kal's interactions with children and animals (especially cats). Though jaded, Kal would still do anything to protect the life of those deemed innocent, and while he maintains an aloofness when called out on his lies, Kal is actually not that bothered by human interaction of any sort. He was raised to fight, so he will fight, he was raised to work alone, and so he will work alone. But his lack of a childhood means that he does not mind it when he can be indulged for a short while with real human interaction; it's just incredibly rare for him to find anyone that he doesn't mind revealing himself to.
On the whole, Kal shies away from physical contact. He is aware his hands are a gunman's hands, but in all due honesty it's simply because he does not know how to react to the majority of it, especially if he doesn't initiate it. It's a sense of helplessness, and Kal hates not being in control of a situation. He needs to be able to anticipate a targets moves, no matter which persona he's using, and physical contact tends to throw him off. Because of the years he spent within what was known as the Hunter Corps, next to nothing phases him. He's seen the worst that violence can do, caused some of the worst war can do, and seen some of the weirdest things science can do. He's come close to death countless times, been made by enemy snipers, nearly blown up on his first day of training, almost trapped in a building as it was demolished by a tank, so on and so forth. He has no issue with accepting the lables 'complex' and 'fucked up' as he's aware that he takes all these things in stride, whereas most people he's fought with have taken a turn for the worse mentally. He's actually fairly oblivious to the way people might feel about him, somewhat out of choice, but also because he refuses to allow anyone to be close to him and thusly he isn't particularly bothered by the way people view him, as long as he gets the information he wants. He also hates being called kid, even though he knows he technically is one still. He doesn't feel that age is something that should set you apart for any reason, however he tends to abuse the word kid when talking to others simply out of habit.
Despite his generally cold nature, he does actually enjoy playing music, in particular the guitar and drums, though it's a skill few others know. He finds it quite relaxing, and doesn't mind abusing the guitar occasionally if it helps people talk.
Though he in some way believes he's every bit the soldier he's been conditioned to be, deep down Kal wouldn't mind living in (what is left of) the countryside, or a small town (if any still exist). The guns would probably have to come with him, though. He's deeply attached to every single one of them, having modded them himself in some way. The majority of his extras are handcrafted, and he makes all his ammo himself. Kal even goes so far as to carve his own arrows for his bow (a gift from his mother to combat all the guns his father brought him).
As with many soldiers from the Hunter Corps, Kal has some memory issues of anything prior to his joining the army, which he blames upon his nanobots (useless junky outdated things), and while he pretends it doesn't matter it is something that has deeply disturbed him, as he prides himself on his ability to remember everything exactly as it happens.
He is near obsessive with keeping notes, his notebooks full of all sorts of things he finds important or simply noteworthy. When writing he adopts codes, again a military habit he can't seem to break. He's actually not that good at reading people on an emotional level, but he's had enough practice at telling them what he thinks they need to hear.
Kal's nineteen years betray his intelligence; as a former Pack Leader he quickly learned the importance of sounding worldly, but in reality it's just a bunch of words he doesn't really believe in. He has the tendancy to gloss over his, er, little gun habit, either leaving it out entirely or just casually mentioning that he used to shoot people for a living. He plays the ex-soldier card a lot, but tends to pretend he hates it and doesn't fight anymore (which, of course, is one of his bigger lies).
Should he ever simply be himself, Kal is emotionally distant and incredibly difficult to get along with simply because he doesn't make anything easy, but once his trust is earned there is next to nothing that can be done to lose it. It just takes a lot of effort to earn it in the first place.
HISTORY: At the tender age of nineteen, Kal doesn't strike many people as much. He's a good listener, a smooth talker, and true to his past tends to remain in the background more than anything. It's how he likes things. An only child, Kal's father was a soldier that taught him how to hold a gun when he was just six, and from that point on he was hooked. When he was eight, he had a run-in with some of the army's higher-ups. They had origianally hoped to get him to join the army then, but his mothers intervention prevented what would later become obvious as his fathers plan. By twelve he'd mastered every gun he could get his hands on and knew how to mod them to his needs, and at thirteen he was a mercenary sharpshooter accepting jobs his father obtained for him. At fourteen his father took him with him to join the army, at which point Kal changed dramatically. Whereas before he'd still been somewhat lively and childish, after he joined he became detached; the perfect soldier. His aim was perfected, and they gave him his healing ability by injecting him with nanobots, after two months placing him into the Hunter Corps. Within eight months he was going by Snow, the first half of his military designation within the Hunter Corps, and his father had been killed. He'd lost contact with his mother and believed her dead, and as such was able to focus solely on being a soldier. By sixteen he'd perfected his playboy-esque exterior that he allowed the world to see and withdrew from the main core of the army, leaving behind his role as a Pack Leader in the Hunter Corps, choosing instead to become an assassin within an unknown and unnamed squad. When the war tended with a very shaky truce three years later, Kal was left homeless, jobless, and alone. The majority of people he knew were dead, the others missing in action or mentally unsound as a result of the war. Instead of drifting about like the majority of the soldiers that had survived, he made his way to the last remaining city (though still somewhat in ruins), finding work easily enough in a bar. However, his side of the conflict was able to trace him but instead of forcing him to return to the army he was allowed to remain on his own so long as he aided them when they needed 'questionable people taken care of'. For a substantial fee each time, of course. Over time he picked up a stray kitten (that he named Leopard, the second half of his designation). For the most part he just sat about working as needed, waiting to see how the truce panned out. But he also spent some time making sure no one else could track him, having made quite a few enemies of his own on the battlefield. As with just about everyone that was enrolled into elite squads, Kal's file has long since been destroyed along with any trace of his life before becoming Snow. Not that he minds, it makes it easier to lie to officials. A copy may still remain somewhere, but it is unlikely. He has some shreads of it, kept safe in is his many notebooks, but as it's just fragments they don't tell enough of a story.
THE WORLD: No one remembers anything before the war because there is no one alive from before the war. It raged for at least fifty years, tearing first a nation and then a world apart, three sides seperated by science (Two factions and non-participants). And science was the downfall, ultimately coming to a standstill with neither side willing to back down but unable to continue without losing everything. Kal as he is currently comes in shortly after the not-really-a-truce, not-really-anything comes into being, a war-torn continent full of ruins and broken people.
In the grand scheme of things, Kal is only notable because of his gun habit and as such it bothers him immensely when people claim he's interesting. His nanobots are outdated technology, and they're his only claim to fame. The majority of ex-soldiers on his side of the fight have far more sophisticated technology invested in them, while the opposing army is the result of genetic mutations -- and largely unsuccessful ones. We're not talking telepaths and invisibility here, we're talking science gone a little wonky. People fused with animals, that sort of thing. As a result Kal doesn't get fazed easily, he's gone up against enough people who won't go down with a single shot to the head. On the other end of this, Kal does stand out as someone who has weathered the war and not lost himself, the large majority of former soldiers now wavering on mental instability.
THE DESIGNATION:
Kal vs. Snow Leopard
aka; why it's his designation
A snow leopard is a largely solitary creature. (I don't think I need to explain this. fu.)
A snow leopard is capable of blending into its surroundings. (if Kal doesn't want to be seen, he won't be. sob.)
A snow leopard cannot roar. (this is not so much that Kal does not roar asdfghjkl whut but more in that if you ever interact with him one on one, even in the middle of a fight, even at his angriest, he doesn't ever shout. he kind of snarls, but he'll never intimidate via noise.)
A snow leopard is one of the smaller big cats. (Kal is, in comparision to the majority of males from his world, something of a runt. mostly because he doesn't eat much, but he's also just naturally kind of on the smaller side. it makes sneaking about easier though?)
A snow leopard is adapted for living in cold environments. (okay, so Kal doesn't have thick fur or anything, but the cold really doesn't bother him. it's more of a natural thing than not (he just genuinely prefers winter months to summer ones) whereas with others it seems to be more of a side effect of whatever technology/science was used on them. it's not like he wouldn't freeze to death or anything, he just doesn't get bothered by the cold that much.)
A snow leopard is built for balance. (yeah. while he's not graceful, it takes a lot to knock the boy off his feet.)
A snow leopard is crepuscular. (I don't think this really applies, but Kal does tend to be an up at all hours kind of guy so maybe.)
A snow leopard can hunt creatures up to three times its own size. (Kal will shoot anything. anyone. just show him the money, and he'll do it. unless it's an innocent, fff)
A snow leopard is an opportunistic hunter. (he has his favourites, but really, food is food.)
A snow leopard has a well defined home range, but doesn't aggressively defend its territory. (it's not obvious because of his general nature, but he doesn't push people away. in fact, he's rarely aggressive outside of combat unless he's forced into it.)
A snow leopard likes to ambush prey from above. (Kal likes to snipe. :D)
A snow leopards life range tends to be between 15-18 years, up to 20 in captivity. (...well, he's going to die sooner or later, more likely sooner.)
