IMAP/Dovecot showing “Failed to lookup domain owner of…”

If you see this error in /var/log/maillog

"dovecot: auth(default): Failed to lookup domain owner of"

Then check the file /etc/userdomains. It’s possible that you are missing the domain name in there and the user that is associated with the domain.

Then just restart your smtp and imap/pop3 server and you should be good to go.
