So, I’m planning on transferring from my current school and would like some insight into Haverford, especially from the current students. Later on, I’ll be going through the community’s past enteries for more info as well :). In no particular order ( Read more... )

Alright, I'll answer as best as I can, which means I'm skipping half of your questions.

c. No Greek. Sports teams and a capella groups are as close as we get, which isn't very close. You can usually find a party on a Friday or Saturday night, often on Thursday, but if you have any interest in getting drunk on Monday night every week, look elsewhere. There are lots of clubs, and those do take up a lot of time, however.

d. Somewhat. On paper, it's more diverse than in reality. The African-American and Hispanic students tend to stick to themselves to a certain degree, and we can argue for hours over whether that's because of Tri-Co, White unfriendliness, or just plain cliquishness, but it does happen.

e. 20 to 30 minute train ride to Philadelphia, depending on which part you want to get to. Under two hours driving distance to NYC, though it takes closer to 3 by train - it's pretty easy to do, though. About 3 hours to DC.

h. My favorite class was an upper level class taught by William DiCanzio. I forget the title, but it was about reading plays. Random course I took for fun, and enjoyed thoroughly.

j. At this point, I'm glad to be done with college. Otherwise, I think I'd return to Haverford. There are bad points, and good points, but...I know the bad points, and I can deal with them. And, in my opinion, Haverford is better than a lot of places.

Just to warn you, Haverford gets very few transfers, and very few exchange students. When I lived on the transfer/exchange/random students who got screwed over by room draw hall (though it's really not bad housing - you just find out really late) three years ago, we had four transfers/exchange students. It was more this year, and more last year, but it's still usually not more than ten between the two groups.

I hope that helped!
