In which I have no brain...

Y'know, weather.com is convinced it isn't raining, but the world outside my front door says differently... It's making me sleepy. Or that might be waking up early because our Verizon FIOS was installed today. :fistbump: Our previous cable provider was turning into a bitch to deal with (seriously, you're going to tell us that we're not allowed to have DVR? when we're willing to pay the extra fee? what?) and so we just decided it was time, after the years we've been with them, to switch.

The FIOS is so much better it's surprising. Once he found where our access cords were, the set up was super easy. Setting up the DVR was super easy. And our internet speeds? A total dream.

Plus? God I love pausing TV.

In any case... I've fallen stupid behind on LJ, and have caught up sort of, at least as much as I'm willing to. I'm going to try to go back to checking regularly again, but I may need to slim down on what I'm viewing regularly. Especially if I get this job.

Yep, I still don't know my status of the job. It had to be taken down and re-listed (they decided to make it full time proper with full time benefits, whee, bureaucracy at work!), and so now I've re-applied. :sighs: I should get a phone call soon about coming in to "fill out more paperwork", and then they still need to call references and do the background check and ARGH. Just damn well hire me already, it's to scoop ice cream!

Depending on when I hear back from them (... or don't, fuck but HR is slow and also crazy) I may just apply to some more places cos this is taking so long. If I'm not careful I'll end up getting a job just in time to leave on holiday... and depending on what kind of job it is, they might not appreciate me leaving December 15th, no matter when my tickets were purchased.

Anyway. I'm not going to stress. Or get panicky. I can't control it any which way, but I just wish I knew.

Right, so... how other things are going...

Wedding planning is progressing. We have our ceremony and reception venues lined up, and have started our decorations collection. Oh, and I've picked out my bakery for the bridal cupcake tree. :D

Check out Sugar Queen Cupcakes. I went and had a tasting a couple of weeks ago.... OMG, so delicious. So moist and flavorful and yes. It's no wonder that their Berry Pecan flavor has been voted the Official Cupcake of Texas. :D

L-R: Sugar Queen Vanilla (wedding), Red Velvet, Carrot Cake, Berry Pecan, Chocolate Chocolate Chip (chocolate frosting), Birthday Cake

Example of the pearlescent effect and sugar gum rose.
There's a few flavors I still want to try that weren't available... I don't know how I'm going to decide which I want! I mean, seriously, Snickerdoodle? Italian Creme? White Chocolate Strawberry? Pink Champagne? Lemon? Orange Creamsicle? Cream Cheese Lime? Chocolate Peanut Butter? :mouth waters:

Oh, and I got my ceremony shoes:

Don't look at me like that, you always knew they'd be chucks. (Ok, so they're Rock Candy from LuLu, not Converse, but Converse doesn't make heels. And the way I thought about it is that heels would make a much better silhouette in what may well be the fanciest dress I will ever own.)

Speaking of the dress... well, I haven't got one picked out yet. My mother really wants me to do the dress shopping with her (and she is paying for it) so it's going to have to wait until December. But I've got a few things in mind... I know mostly what I don't like -- very poofy skirts, ball gowns, too much of either super sparkly crystals or flower appliques, generally the sweetheart neckline -- but I've got a few ideas of what I do want... Since it's going to be a garden wedding, something a little less formal, and light, maybe organza or seersucker. I'd want to try on a dress in seersucker just because while I think it could dress down a very formal dress, I don't know how it'd look. I was sort of all over the place, until I found this:

It's a Katharine Kidd dress from her spring line... and there's pretty well no chance of me getting my hands on it. However, I really love the petaling... Although I haven't seen a wedding dress that utilized a similar Darquer lace. It looks summer-y, and casual, but still very clearly gorgeous.

So the search started for something like that. I've found a few dresses that have tiers or layers that are similar-ish to the petaling from David's Bridal and dress designer called Alfred Angelo, but it's not quite the same. And then my mother told me to look at Kleinfeld. For those of you not currently wedding obsessed, that's the boutique featured on Say Yes to the Dress. It's a little out of the budget (their lowest price range starts at $1500-$3000) but... Of course I had to go and find this:

It's lacier than I would initially go for... but there's something that just screams ... I don't know. Perfect. And a little steampunk flair, to boot.

So now mom is trying to wiggle a little more money out of Dad to try and get us an appointment. (And of course, she wants to sign me up for an episode too...)

So yes. There's madness...

Um, and I just saw the time... I need to eat, and get to writing! Because of course, now it's November, and being November, it's mini_nanowrimo season! I'm signed up for 500 words a day.

I may or may not put up a meme soon to help with that, because I am made of scatterbrainology. (What? It's totally a word.)

me, holy shit i'm getting married, writing, mini nanowrimo
