Bad news: Good news - I guess humanity breaks even?
Student shaped stupidity aside, the world we live in is a crazy fucking place man.
Yesterday: Dallas Police Chief David Brown said that rape was up 25%, mostly date rape, and that the only way to stop date rape was, essentially, for women to stop drinking in front of men. (Article here, video here.) If he wasn't intending to imply rape was all the victim's fault (never mind that he only spoke about women, which is probably bad enough) he did a very poor job of putting his remarks together. And if you look at the chart from the original live blog here you'll see that all other crime has dropped or stayed the same, barring a small increase in residential burglary.
Because it's not the attacker's fault, oh no. And it certainly couldn't be the fault of a police force that doesn't seem to be capable of mustering itself up to women actually reporting being attacked, because, the Chief says, this is sadly more rape occurring. Golly gee. Why the fuck to I live here again?
I swear to god it makes me want to stab things in the face.
Anyway.
After the bad news first, how about we have the damn awesome news?
Judge Overturns California's Ban on Same-Sex Marriage
WOOOOOOOOOOO!
Ok, ok, I know, I know this won't be the last decision. The people with their heads so far up their asses they forgot what equality and love mean will, in all likelihood, appeal the decision. But for now, at least, a judge has ruled "that the ban violated the Constitution's equal protection clause under the 14th Amendment."
