::stares:: This is for real?

I'm really hoping that this is an overreaction. Otherwise... well. Colorado scares me.

Recent University of Colorado graduate Eric Rasmussen, 23, is among the 12 runners ticketed Halloween night for indecent exposure after running naked with a wobbly orange squash on their heads along the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder ( Read more... )

If you look at the article, poor Mr. Rasmussen was under the same impression about what the consequences would be for streaking... I've never heard of anything so extreme either. The only thing that I can think of is that a law had been put into affect long ago, and since (god, I hope) it sounds like most streaking doesn't go to court, no judge or jury has been in the position to clarify the full application of the law and the legislature hasn't felt the need to address changing it. Like when you find out some state still has a law about how, I dunno, bathing hedgehogs in your kitchen sink on Sundays is illegal. Running around naked with a pumpkin on your head seems just as silly, y'know?

Then again, Colorado is the state that tried to pass the Personhood ammendment to its state constitution. The groups that are headquartered there, the people that are in power (or were, dunno who was up for being elected), strike me as being very harsh, very extreme, and take themselves and their agenda far too seriously...

Of course, the ammendment was voted down and Obama is in the White House. So maybe this is just an article making lots out of nothing. A friend of mine lives in Colorado, so I'm hoping to hear back from her eventually that they were just let go... ::crosses fingers and for once tries not to be pessimistic::
