So I'm watching Family Guy and the premise is that Brian, Stewie, and Mort have accidentally ended up in the past, just in time for the invasion of Poland during WWII. In order to get their hands on the uranium they need for the return to the present, hijinx are required. Including dressing up as Nazi officers.

Stewie is looking his over, and says "What's this?" and lifts his lapel. For a good few seconds it does a close up shot of a McCain - Palin political pin.

There was a time when I thought that was too far when discussing American politics. But the pair of them have fallen. So. Very. Far. And also, McFarlane does all his commentary in extremes; he's educated and intelligent enough to know we're not at the point to actually compare to those atrocities.

Which is all to say I choked on my soda out of disbelief and laughing.

In a small side-step, I adore one of the main writers for Leverage. He's funny, he also writes comic books, has awesome taste in scotch, and has political commentary along the lines of:
Palin terrifies me. She is Warren Ellis' Smiler, in a way Bush never was. I cannot sense any core beliefs except ... well except nothing. All I can see is the winking, giggling folksy void.

Check his blog out for more, though be warned, there is some Leverage spoilerness.

Now back to writing... MV post later, yay!

politics, leverage, family guy
