Somewhere I have heard that research into consumption behavior is mainly funded by large store chains.  Isn't there a professor at Cornell who has done some startling work on supermarket selling strategies?  I am ( Read more... )

The scope of any research is limited by who is willing to pay for it, thus my opening comment about supermarket chains funding studies on how consumers make choices. I will try and track down who did the research on store layout and product placement; you know, the guy who told the marketers that they should put the most expensive items at adult eye level and all the sugary stuff where kids can get at it. Did they really need to spend money on studies to figure out this last item ( ... )

Opiods don't take away pain, they just mask it so you don't know you're in it. That's why they give you a pain reliever before you come out of anesthesia. Surprisingly, there are few side effects to opiods compaired to Tylenol, which I find amazing that it is on the market and prescribed so freely as well as made readily available to the public.

Have you seen the commercials where the little girl is shown being bombarded by the negative female images in advertising? It's an ad for some company promoting something for girls other than body image. Unfortunately, I usually have the TV on mute, so I don't hear what is being said.
