A win, and a thank you

I've been having a mildly crazy and stressful week here at college, and I'm not quite settled down into this weekend yet (still one more class and work to go!), but I wanted to make a small PSA and a thank you.

That PSA of sorts would be that The Time Is Out of Joint, my Amy/Rory/River fic, has taken second place in the First Trip challenge at who_contest. I'm ( Read more... )

As I said to Mandy above, apologies for the late reply; the notifications problem last week has left me scatterbrained in regards to who I have to reply to, LOL.

Thanks so much for the kind words about Time; as you read, I was so nervous about how people would receive that one. The more I thought about that scenario, the more I realized how truly hard it would be for River to stay in contact, how many lies Amy and Rory would have to tell, and the inherent dishonesty in all three's relationship to Julian--none of which is his fault. Though the ending there was pretty definitive, I'm hoping to do a little bit more with it in the future. At the very least, I'm hoping to write a scene between all three of the Ponds and Julian at once; it was initially supposed to be Amy's section, until I started describing the meeting in the park as backstory-esque prose and realized I wanted that story to be the one I told for Amy. In the words of Ten, "it got away from me, yeah..." ;)

I feel the same way about River; there's so much about her character that could be expanded upon if only Moffat was willing to go there. Same with Amy and Rory, actually. I'm almost glad, sometimes, that Series 5 and 6 are so scant on answers; while my fics for Doctor/Rose are more strictly romantic and could be considered non-canonical, writing for the Ponds and Eleven is a good exercise in filling in gaps in canon in "original flavor" type writing, as it were!
