Clearing the air with chloeas

Feb 19, 2010 21:53

It's been a few days since Tess actually made an appearance at the Daily Planet. Not that she much cares as thankfully, it's an entity that more or less runs itself when need be. And it's needed to be ( Read more... )

Chloe hopes she's actually there when she steps into the elevator and presses the button for the top floor. She doesn't know what the hell Tess is playing at, but she's tired of being caught in it, more than that, she is tired of Oliver being caught in it and her never getting any answers.

Whatever it is that Tess is using to manipulate Oliver into doing whatever she wants ends now.

She takes a deep breath as she sees the light on in Tess' office and picks up her pace down the hall, opening the door without knocking and narrowing her eyes when they fall on the other woman.

"I want some answers."

Tess glances up in mild surprise - and it's genuine. Chloe is most definitely the last person she expected to pay her a visit. Ever.

It doesn't take her long to regain her composure.

"And here I thought you had all of them. I'm disappointed." Tess rises from her chair and moves to stand beside her desk. "Laptop on he fritz?"

Chloe steps towards the desk and stands in front of Tess, on the opposite side of it.

"I'm tired of your little games, Tess and when you're outright manipulating people, you're going too far."

At that, Tess raises an eyebrow and crosses her arms. When is she not manipulating people?

"You know, I think you're going to have to fill me in on this one, Chloe. Or are you just here to ramble incoherently, because if you are? I really don't have the time."

Her face falls and she doesn't bother covering it, "you killed him?" She needs a deep breath because this is much bigger than she initially thought.

"How can you look Clark in the eye? How can you let him come in here and trust you when you took away his only chance to meet his biological father, how dare you let him trust you?"

Tess actually looks taken aback.

"How someone who claims to be so smart can be so ignorant at the same time is beyond me. Playtime's over." She takes one step closer. "Get out."

"I'm not moving until you answer me," Chloe doesn't step back when Tess steps closer, there isn't much closer they can go at this point but Chloe straightens her back, she's so angry, she has to tighten her fists to keep her hands from shaking.

"Well, then let me make this crystal clear for you, Ms. Sullivan: I don't answer to you. And you've gone beyond wearing out your welcome. So leave, before you get yourself into something you can't talk your way out of." Any and all hint of amusement is gone from Tess' expression and voice. This is Chloe's last chance to take the out.

All Chloe can do is stumble back to the ground, a hand holding her face as her nose starts to bleed and she has to take a few deep breaths before she can think of getting up.

And just as she does she sees the gun being pointed directly at her, adrenaline rushing through her again as she slides on the ground, away from Tess.

After spotting Chloe walking into the Daily Planet on one of the monitors in Watchtower, Oliver had bolted from the building so quickly he could have been mistaken for Bart.

He drove as quickly as he could, fueled by adrenaline and hoping he could get there in time to stop the two women from actually killing one another.

And as he made his way into Tess's office and saw her gun trained on Chloe, he realized that he hadn't gotten there a moment too soon.

"Okay, that's enough." His voice was quiet, firm as he stepped into the room, looking from the blond on the floor to the red head holding the gun. His heart was beating quickly against his chest.

If Oliver looks more closely, he'll notice both women are in a state that suggests a hell of a lot more than just a gun being pulled went on here. Bloody lips, mussed up hair; they'll both be walking bruises in the morning.

"I've warned you to keep her on a leash, or I wouldn't be responsible for my actions." Tess says through still heavy breathing, directed at Oliver though her gun and gaze aren't moving from Chloe. "Now get out so I can finish this."

Chloe glances at Oliver briefly when he walks in but since the gun being pointed at her is kinda priority at the moment, she quickly turns to look at Tess again and has to take another deep breath before she can actually talk, "go ahead," she says through clenched teeth, "it's about time he sees you for what you really are."

He draws in a breath, doing his best to keep a lid on his temper. "I wouldn't worry about it if I was you. I think you have enough to deal with already, wouldn't you say?" His words are sharp.

"Is this the scolding part? Because I think I can do without." Tess gingerly sits in the chair behind her desk and runs a hand through her hair. "Go cage your dog."

Oliver moves over to the front of her desk and places his palms flat down on top of it, leaning toward her. "You're not the only one who can do without," he responds, narrowing his eyes. "And this ridiculous rivalry or whatever the hell it is with you and Chloe? Is over." He stares at her for a long moment, then pulls back. "You should get yourself checked out just to make sure you're both fine."

He turns and heads toward the door.

Whatever. It's not like she's going to listen to him any more than she was going to listen to Chloe.

But there is one last thing she has to say. "Just so you know, she came to me, Oliver. She instigated this, not me. And if you really care about her? You'll talk some sense into her because if she keeps this up, I may very well be the least of her worries and as you saw she can't even handle me."
