So I was in New Orleans all of last week for Microsoft TechEd North America 2010. It was my first business trip working for Microsoft. And it turned out pretty well. I enjoyed getting to meet with our customers. Find out which are using the service and which aren't, and the reasons for both. The overall feedback was great.
Did some other stuff while down there too. I hit the Garden District and took all sorts of pictures of the houses down there. They were pretty amazing. New Orleans definitely has it's own style when it comes to the architecture. Even the newer homes have a lot of the same types of traits as the older. Definitely not at all like up here.
I also hit some of the above ground cemeteries. If you don't know why, they do above grounds because people that are burriend in the ground have a tendency to make it into the ground water, and out to the river. Fantastic, right? So you do them above ground in stone structures so that doesn't happen. Well, these structures look pretty amazing a lot of the time. Some fantastic artwork. Lots of cool stuff going on there.
And the food down there. Oh... my... god the food. I ate so much, and all of it was so fantastically good. Creole, french, and good old Southern food. I probably gained 15lbs while I was there.
And of course Bourbon Street. But that was mostly just drinking all the time. Some with my co-workers. But Bourbon Street is much like Vegas... what happens there stays there. ;-)
