Well, I am job hunting. No, I wasn't laid off or fired. My contract, however, is up on November 10th. So I am out looking for jobs again. Part of it is actually happening within Microsoft. I have an interview on Tuesday with the Exchange Server team. And from the sounds of it, specifically the Exchange Migration team. That is going to be 4 interviews over 4 hours. UGH! Its insane. And I have no idea how long the contract for that one is for or anything.
I have applied for other positions within Microsoft through Volt as well. And some not through Volt. I do qualify for the occaisional permanent employee position, but I haven't heard back on any of them.
Also, one of my roomates wants me to apply for where he works. The only problem is there is a lot of moving around involved. They are a large company that does semi-contract work. You are a full time employee of the company, and they basically hire you out to other companies. So at least you are never without work. However, I know he is looking at going to a job up in the islands that connect Alaska to Russia... ummm... yeah... no thanks. Great pay, but jesus that would suck. Especially since the time fram is at least a year. UGH! I would hate that. I am far enough away from things without having to be traveling like that.
And, to get me back to Portland and into a permanent position, I have also put in a resume and application to Tuality Healthcare out in Hillsboro. Its a bit lower paying job. But it is down there, the pay is still good, AND it is a full time job working for a medical group. When it comes to IT, those are the dream jobs. Law Offices, Hospitals/Medical, and Universities/Government. You stay forever, the pay is good, and the benefits are almost always exceptional. And when working medical, the medical benefits tend to be very good from what I have seen. Which for me, is very important.
Other than that, not much to update. I am hanging in there. Things are getting less boring up here. Especially since Dez, an old friend from highschool, is now living up here. And I have started meeting people, which is excellent. So at least that. If I do stay up here I am certainly working on getting to know people.
