tomato soup cake
i overboiled the soup this lunchtime. i had it early at about eleven thirty because i got up at seven and went shopping for scouring pads and shampoo and discount hairspray and a bag of oranges and some soup. i got paid today and even though it is not enough to plug the gaps in all the leaky areas of debt and rent and things it still beats stealing loo roll from work and eating cakes and crisps that kieran's mom gave him at the weekend for lunch at work. so i bought some nice soup that has carrots in it and i added loads of my own seasoning in the kitchen - black pepper, a pinch of salt, ground chili flakes, lots of coriander and it would have been amazing if i didn't let it overboil and become almost solid in the pan. in the end i ate it with a fork as though it were some fancy cake and thoroughly enjoyed it. i had it early because i am meeting jack this afternoon and we are doing stuff, but then when i rang he was booked in at a climbing centre to do indoor climbing and so i did all the boring stuff that i needed to do and then came back here for a few minutes to get changed because it's much colder than i thought it was and i have to put trousers on. also i really love this song and put it on repeat while i got ready and wrote this post. yesterday was a bad day for loads of mundane reasons and today i feel more optimistic though it transpires that even though my mood has lifted my concentration is in ribbons and my various half-finished projects languish as ever. i managed one chapter this mormning but i really don't know how much of it i want to keep. i cut kieran's hair last night and i like it a lot. a pale ray of sunlight has finally appeared and is warming the breeze outside my window where the orange and green bedsheets are being whipped dry.
