Freakin' Snow

Jan 30, 2007 07:15

Okay, this morning I realized what it would be like to be rich...except for having to drive to work. We got some heavy snow last night and, with my tires, I was dreading coming to work. The dogs woke me up at 5am to go out (alarm goes off at 6am), and what to my wondering eyes did appear...a guy in a pickup cleaning the driveway out. And I mean cleaning it ALL off. The whole thing was spotless and he even cleaned the road from my driveway to the end of the street (both lanes) and up to the exit to the main road. I noticed as I was driving out the neighborhood that mine was the only driveway and road that was clean. My road was only clean from my driveway to the exit. The owner of the house must have hired someone to handle his house exclusively or something. On the other hand, I nearly ended up in a ditch many times. With the winds and drifting, most of the four lane roads were down to two with people driving straight down the middle. My tires are less than two years old, but they are shit. I have a Toyota Rav4 and was staying way behind the cop in front of me, but had a stupid pickup tailgating me most of the way. Why are people so fucking stupid? It took almost an hour to make a 30 minute drive. I was so tempted to call my boss at his home and tell him to forget it. We don't have much going on today, so maybe he'll be very late and leave early and I can surf all day. I'm hoping we don't get much more snow today because the drive at 5pm is horrendous enough when it's dry and with my wheels spinning at every intersection, it's going to be even worse.

Glad to be here early though since I'm off to read my flist journals. Today's office temp was 54 degrees. Whooee! A heat wave compared to yesterday's! Got an undershirt, sweater, cardigan, and coat on with the space heater running under the desk. Wish I was in Florida with my dad right now!
