Chevelle, Finger Eleven to rock Columbus

Platinum rock trio Chevelle will hit the Newport Music Hall in Columbus on March 4 night with fellow head-bangers Finger Eleven.

Brothers Pete and Sam Loeffler team up with bassist Dean Bernardini to make up Chevelle’s hard-rock sound. Originating from Chicago, the group shot into the mainstream arena with its hit, “Send the Pain Below” in 2001. That same year, it headlined Ozzfest, and its sophomore album, “Wonder What’s Next,” went platinum in 2002.

The five-man band of Finger Eleven is experiencing rock-star status right now with its hit single, “Paralyzer.” The group, from Ontario, featured Amy Lee of Evanescence on the hit song “One Thing” from its 2003 self-titled album, which put the group on the pop charts.

Finger Eleven’s latest album, “Them vs. You vs. Me” debuted at No. 1 in Canada and is safely amongst the Top 40 here in the U.S. The group also has been nominated for three major Juno Awards - group, single and album of the year - Canada’s version of the Grammys, which will be divvied out in April.

Chevelle is on tour peddling its album, “Vena Sera,” released this past spring, across the country. According to the band’s Web site, the name means “vein liquid,” referencing the sweat and blood poured into making the album. The CD’s third single, “The Fad” just debuted at No. 14 on the Mainstream Rock charts.

The show starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets are $20 in advance, but $25 at the door. For more information, call (614) 294-1659 or visitwww.ticketmaster.com.
