The Glory
Guitarist Terry Balsamo’s remarkable comeback after becoming paralyzed due to a stroke is an inspiration in itself, particularly considering he basically had to relearn every aspect of playing the guitar.
Vocalist Amy Lee made her own comeback in a way by delivering another hit with the platinum-selling Open Door, proving to naysayers that she doesn’t have to rely on ex-member and former boyfriend Ben Moody’s songwriting abilities.
The Shame
You have to cringe a bit when you reflect upon the revolving-door lineup in Evanescence. Most of us know about the bitter break-up between Lee and Moody a few years back, but this year’s events just added to the drama. Both guitarist John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray were kicked out of the band, leaving even the most faithful Evanescence fans a little confused on whose side to take. Unfortunately, it’s looking more and more like Amy Lee will officially be deemed the female Axl Rose.
