Arthas Menethil was the Prince of Lordaeron. When his country was invaded by legions of undead and demons, he traveled to the frozen north in search of the legendary sword Frostmourn. He found it, or perhaps, it found him. The whispering you hear in the background isn't just the wind - it's Frostmourn - the voice of the previous Lich King. Thoroughly corrupted, Arthas returns home to Lordaeron and strikes down his father, King Menathil, on his throne. Then, Arthas takes command of the undead invaders and kills every living human in Lordaeron. With the slaughter complete, he returns to the frozen north as the new occupant of the Frozen Throne.
