it's been a while

Happy New Year! We are sitting in a hostel in shanghai right now and it's really cold. Maybe not canada cold, but when you get used to 20+ weather it sucks to jump right into -1. Keely is currently wearing some long johns complete with undershirt jeans and a couple sweaters and a toque... while we are inside. When we landed in china and found a place to stay we were little disapointed about pricing and the temprature that we almost had plans to leave the country right away, but after strolling along the river and seeing the city skyline our thoughts quickly change back to China.

Well we will back track a little bit. So we spent a couple days in chaing mai doing some treking for 2 days and 1 night. This was a lesson in pain for us because we are really really really out of shape. The trek was all uphill but the scenery was beautiful. It came complete with some elephant treking(again) and white water rafting. The rafting was definitly the best part. It made me shout out some woooooo's. The best thing about the trek was the Koreans that we met in our group. The were a lot of fun and got very excited when I could name a few Korean dishes such as bul go gi and jap chae. Right after our trek it was back to chang mai to hop on the over night bus to bangkok. When we arrived in bangkok at 4:30 am we had to kill time on koh san road which is the back packers district. So we sat in a resturant, ate ham and eggs while watching the lady boys walk by. The plan that day was to go the chinese emabssy and get are visa's on the go and meet nick at 1. except walking around bagkok with your back pack is not the easiest task. Keely nearly broke down a few times but with a few threats and punches she kept going. When it was all said and done we were very tired when nick met up with us. I think I hugged him sitting down, so basically I hugged his crotch.

Nick's place was very refreshing for us. We are forever gratefull for his hospiltality. His apartment was pretty shwank and the thai ladies can't refuse him in it. I think I know now how my tax money is being spent over seas. It's spent keeping nick in the life style. He showed us a night on the town, which involved naked ladies! no ping pong tricks which is probably a good thing because nick said it could get a little depressing and unnerving. New Years was a blast, the pictures speak for themselves.

well that's it we are very tired and it's been a long day. so this all you get for now. but lucky you there is pictures.
