Okay this is going to be another long one and without pictures(sorry! forgot the usb cord!). So if memory serves me right we left off in Hue. It was boring and blah blah blah. Hanoi was a little more intresting, with the highlight being Halong Bay. It so far, has been the most beautiful thing that we have seen on the trip. I am not very good at describing things so you might as just look it up on www.google.com . We bought another boat trip tour as soon as we got into Hanoi so are first day of the city was pretty boring. I think we just watched the cartoon network. The trip was 3 days and 2 nights. Our first day involved getting there by bus and setting out. Everything is crowded in asia including the docks where boats can get close to the dock by slamming into the tiny crack that seperates 2 ships. I am a loand lover so this made me kinda of nervous. We got out there without sinking so it was a good start. We had lunch on then our first stop was this cave. It had been filled with lights and a path made through it to show it to tourist. Kinda boring plus the camera was not taking good pictures in there. After that was some island. Do you like how I can't remember the names. Anyways the island had a mountain that you could climb and see the sun set from the top. We got some great pictures which you will eventually see. Next we got to go into a lagoon where you pay the locals from the fishing village to paddle you into. They don't use boats, they use floating whicker baskets. It made a polish guy so nervous that he needed a life jacket. We have pictures of that as well. That day ended with us sleeping on the boat. Day 2 included a trip to Cat ba island. Where we went on a very long hike up the mountain. The closer we got to the top we got the steeper it got. It was not a beginners hike. I am very proud of Keely for going on this climb because it made the steps in Angkor look easy! after that it was back to the bay for kayaking without life jackets into another lagoon. That was a lot of fun. Day 2 made me realize that I might like rock climbing and kayaking. I guess hanging around Calgary made me super X-treme(hey joel). Day 3 was just heading back to Hanoi. Hanoi for the most part was kinda boring. Went to the literary museum where confusious had taught and wrote some of his works. Keely enjoyed it, I hate learning. We also saw the water puppets. Very hyped up by lonely planet, not very good. It was a hour long puppet show which I didn't understand for very long. It's like watching the Indian channel on the weekend. Fun at first because it is different, but boring after 10 mins. The one thing about hanoi is that you can get awesome sandwhiches and cheap bubble tea!
That is it. So long Vietnam and hello Thailand. So we meet again Bangkok! This time things seem to be going smooth. We arrived by plane which was a little shifty and managed to secure a place to stay for the night and secure transport and lodging for the island of Koh Tao for the next day. Let's hope we are not ripped off. Keely and I are staying near the shopping malls so we are getting our fix of harry potter and fast food. It is nice and makes me very excited to come back to see Nick. We are heading south now to the islands till after christmas. I am a bit nervous about finding places to stay around the holiday season but I am sure we will be okay. So I guess that will be all.
Lots of love
Kevin and Keely
