We finally got out of Chengdu by plane. It takes only 1 hr by plane, train takes 18hrs. I not a big fan of flying but it was worth the extra Yuan that we had to fork over for the plane and cab fare to Xi'an. Today was our first day here and despite having little sleep we decided to haul our asses to the Terra Cotta warriors. The tours that you can book through the hostels are kinda of expensive so we used lonely planets guide and got there by bus, we ended up saving quite a bit in the end. The warriors were pretty kick ass. The camera did not catch the emence detail that is in every soldier but I hope the photos will give you some idea about the size of this tomb. There is 3 dig sites and site 1 was the first one discovered by a farmer back in the 70's. He was digging a well and discovered some artifacts and when they began to dig some more they discovered the warriors, pretty cool stuff. One thing that I found amazing was that the some of the statues were holding swords that were covered in chrome. I know what you are all saying "Kevin the germans and the U.S apparently discovered chrome plating in 1955 " and I say wrong! it was the Chinese 2000 yrs before that. The chinese are so crazy! Tommorrow I hope to go see a Taoist park and become one with the earth.
We met Larry! Larry is Kevin and wendy's friend (Butch's friends and boss) that is also travelling in China. For the people that don't know larry is from G.P small world! I guess wendy and kevin had mentioned to him that we were here. It was funny because I recognized his BJ's sports bar cap which was neon orange. It was beautiful.
lot's of love Kevin and Keely
