stuck
hello everyone. just a quick note to say that we are now fine and no longer wretching uncontrollably.
we are currently in chengdu. although we are ready to leave but can't. we tried to buy tickets at the train station this morning, but after waiting in a 3 hour long que we were denied. so we are back at our cold hostel (although we dished out an extra 20 yuan ($3) when we discovered there was a heat option!). we thought about going by air, but we are too cheap. we'd rather pay half and do the 18 hour train trip to xian.
chengdu has been great, we really like this city. our first day we went to see the giant pandas (on valentines day, hoooowwww romantic!). they are super adorable. i didn't know they had such long tails. we paid 50 yuan each to hold a baby red panda. they wanted 1800 yuan each to hold a giant panda - fuck that! the last few days we've spent shopping. chengdu has tons of great alleys filled with cool, trendy clothing shops. the clothes that the hip asian youths wear. so kevin and i both bought coats so we don't look like the homeless miscreants that we are. i also bought a shirt, shoes, and jeans. kevin also bought a pair of jeans that actually fit him (he says his mom will be proud) - he's gone down a pants size. apparently he is losing weight. but not me! boo! but at least there's chubby chinese girls so i'm not such a freak when i ask for pants in my size.
