Posting since it has been some time since I last did so. Currently I am in crunch mode trying to get Godfather 2 out the door. So if you need to contact me, calling might be the best.
On another note, I managed to watch the Speed Racer movie last night. It wasn't too bad, but I can see why it didn't do too well. The style they were going for looked like an over the top Manga Eiga (Comic Movie) that Japan has been doing for a few years now.
The acting was ok, the story seemed to be packed in there. A lot of the background story was in there, but the actual racing seemed too light. Since I wasn't a big fan of Speed Racer TV series, I am not sure how the stories are different. I think some of it is though. The special features on the Blu-ray were lame. I was expecting more on it.
One good thing about it, at least for me, was that Peter Fernandez got to be in it. For those of you who do not know Peter Fernandez (
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0273033/) is the original voice actor for Speed Racer. He currently does a lot of voice directing now. He is a really nice guy. I got to talk to him at the last AWA (Anime Weekend Atlanta) I went to.
It was strange talking to him and the voice actor for Space Ghost (Space Ghost Coast to Coast). Good times.
I have also played the New Prince of Persia game. I am enjoying it overall
What I like:
The acting was good, this plays a key part since there is so much extra dialog in the game. I believe I talked to the female character for about 5 minutes.
The Story, it does a decent job setting up the two characters meet, as well the threat to the world. I have not beaten it, since I rented it, so I do not know how well the story keeps.
The Environments, they were designed very well.
What I do not like:
There is no real punishment for failing in the game. Sure I thought the original Prince of Persia was a tough. But this is way too simple. It appears to be aimed at getting new players.
Miss a jump, don't worry you'll be saved... Monster (what few there are) is about to kill you, no problem you'll be saved again. Sure the standard monsters get all their health back if they "kill" you and the bosses only get some back, but it is not really a punishment.
Well, I'll probably write more on this later since I have to get to work.
