Whom are you referring to by the use of "Her"?

Is it the actress Rene Zellweger, who was paid several millions in order to *gain weight* for the part but only if she'll lose them for the promotional interviews? (She clearly overdid herself, because she hasn't gained as much weight for the first movie. It was the same deal then). I find the whole gaining and losing weight thing unhealthy and unnecessary. She is now back to her skeletonic self, which is her default size. so clearly she prefers it that way herself.

Are you referring to the character, who is not described as fat in the books (the diaries includes a daily account of the character's weight) as Zellweger appears to be in the movie?

I guess your question is - would I redicule any leading character who is overweight? Of course not. But I had a very clear notion of how Bridget Jones should look like, when going to the movie and I was very disappointed. Since the weight of the actress was TAILORED for the movie, it seemed like they didn't have to make her so fat, that's all.

And yes, when watching romantic comedies, I usually prefer the leading characters to be aesthetically appealing. Those kind of movies are a fantasy - A fairy tale. And I like my fairy tales to be aesthetic.

However, there are exepctions to almost every rule. the romantic comedy featured a full yet utterly loveble (clever, witty and hillarious) leading character played by Janeane Galafolo.

Which leads me to my next point - The major problem I had with this movie, which I believe I haven't stressed enough, since clearly both you and raisinlike have missed it - is that the character is completely foolish, clumsy and dumb.

That was the reason I claimed that Mark Darcy would never have dated her, and not her size. They dumbed down the character and made her one dimensional at best. A walking caricature. That is the reason that I dismissed her as "Clumsy Mountain".
