English weather

So I left Copenhagen in the rain. It's a good thing it did rain on my last morning there or I would have been feeling rather bitter about trading beautiful, sunny, Danish skies for England! I'm now in Reading. It's grey and it's wet.

Why Reading you ask? Good question, I am wondering that myself! Quite a nice little town, it is accessible to many places, but once you've seen the Reading Museum and the prison that Oscar Wilde stayed in you've pretty much covered the exciting bits. I shouldn't be rude though. I have family based here, and continuing the theme of this journey I have followed the free accomodation. My sister and brother-in-law are being incredibly generous. They've given over the spare room to me for as long as I want it, have fed me up and taken me out and are also helping line me up for some work here. My bank account is going into critical collapse as we speak. I am having to face up to reality, having left home with barely enough, and try my luck at the whole working holiday scheme.

I'm not looking in museums just yet for two reasons. Technically I'm not allowed to do professional work while I'm here. I think I can find my way around that but I've also decided that if I pursue something that's too much like a career I'm likely to settle in and not make it any further in my travels. Having decided to look for any old dodgy work that I could do I realised that beyond museums I'm really not qualified to do anything. Useless in fact.

Luckily they don't seem that phased by that if you look for a job in sales in Reading. Yes, I'm going to be a sales girl. The experience of sitting through an interview process next to 16 year old girls made me feel positively ancient, but hey, the store's going to employ me, and I won't have any qualms about walking out when I can afford to travel again or I've found something else to try.

I suspect  this means the posts may not be quite as colourful for a while, but I'm sure I'll find something to bang on about :)

travel, me me me
