Stupid Girl

I would love to say that I live one of those zen lives, accumulating few possessions. Unfortunately I am a hoarder, a disorganised hoarder. OK perhaps more lazy than disorganised but it has the same result. I am also a procrastinator, especially when it comes to things like doing my taxes before the last possible moment. This would be alright if I ( Read more... )

I too like to hide important things from myself. It makes life more interesting and what better things have you got to do with your time besides tear your room apart?

This is where the 'not so much disorganised but lazy' comes up to bite me. I have a filing system, I just neglect to use it most of the time.

I like it. Not sure how successful I will be carrying it off though!

Ha! You sound just like me! Although I *do* have a single file where all tax-relevant things get jammed, usually (the rest get piled on the desk making the desk completely unusable.) Having just finished my six-months-tardy tax filing a few weeks ago, you have all my sympathies. (US tax people ask you to send them the amount you owe on time, but -- with paperwork -- you can send in the details and any revisions up to 6 mos later. Of course, knowing what to send in the first place, when you don't have the details worked out, is a fun exercise in prognostication.)

Yes, in theory I have a system like that. In theory. I specialise in desks that are completely unusable too. Two or three times a year I get enthusiastic and they briefly glimpse the light of day, only to disappear again under the sea of crap I manage to accumulate.

The filing thing only works because it's also on TOP of the desk in an upright holder. I have a wonderful, well-organized filing cabinet with neatly labeled folders that... get used maybe once or twice a year when I slash'n'burn paper off my desk!

We just did ours at the last minute too. I'm always keen in June and then B isn't quite right ready yet and the next thing you know it's October!...

Unfortunately I don't have anyone to blame but myself! I know that feeling though: 'next year I will do it early, next year!'

I am so there with you sister - I did my tax on Friday night (which I think is quite early, considering the deadline wasn't until Monday) !!

I am not in a hurry this year, I have to pay! Dammit dammit dammit!

Ha! I think having to pay might have had just a little bit to do with me dragging my heels too :) Perhaps I wouldn't resent it so much if we had a different government who actually used my money for something I could believe in?

I had almost finished my Tax Return when our accountant said "OK, at the moment you're owed a refund of $3,000+

Now let me calculate your HECS repayment ... oh wait, now you owe the ATO $600+"

HECS sucks!!
