Update on Arielei

So, Arielei is apparently healing really well. They did move her into a room and she's spending the night there tonight and they're supposed to be releasing her tomorrow. A few more details on what happened...

They were going through an intersection, Nathan was driving, and the drunk guy ran a red light and crashed into Arielei's side of the car. They did both have seatbelts on and the air bags worked. They both got knocked out and Arielei's side of the car was crushed. They had to pry the door off and get her out and took her in an ambulance to the hospital. It was about an hour and a half before Nathan and her best friend Natti heard anything but then they found out she was stable.

The impact shook her brain and caused bleeding inside it, and gave her a massive concussion. When she woke up, she couldn't remember her name or anything. The good part was that it all healed really well. The neurologist saw her last night and said everything was healing great and it would all be ok.

She had some lacerations to her liver and they were worried about those, so they wouldn't let her eat for 24 hours. They gave the all clear today though so she's finally eating. I think that was what scared them the most.

The fractures on her spine was what was worrying me because I didn't understand what they meant, but I guess it's the little bones that connect the spine to it's muscles, no vertebrae problems or anything. They had her get up and walk around a lot today and everything was fine.

She's just in a lot of pain. They had her on morphine but switched to regular painkillers today. She has some really bad bruises. Natti said her whole right arm is purple and along her ride side. The car smashed in above her legs and she has a bad bruise on her knee. Combine all those bruises with her head trauma, the fractures, and just being so shaken up by everything, and she's been through a lot. But she is going home tomorrow, probably spending awhile in bed.

Pray for her that her pain will go away quickly. I know that her and her little sister are going to be afraid to drive now, maybe even Nathan too, so just pray that God will help them with the fear. He's already had so much to do with all of this (God that is) because when you think about people that sustain those types of injuries, head and spine, liver, etc....she's "lucky" that things weren't a lot worse.  I'm so glad she's going to be ok.
