Aiding the Enemy!

Heh... Ok, so everyone should just accept that I will always be behind on these episode thingums. College is like Draco Malfoy, and is kicking me in the face. *LOL HP reference in my Pkmn blog*
So here it is, the next episode on my backlogged list!

Mini-Synopsis: After chilling with Elite Four Aaron, the gang watch his battle against Cynthia. Ash continues his training for his upcoming gym battle against Fantina and Paul returns. In a battle between Ash and Paul, Turtwig evolves but loses its self-esteem when it realizes it's not ready for its new body

So, where to begin? First of all when I watched this my first thought was "Finally... Paul!" I missed him, his attitude, his purple hair, everything. Yay Paul!

YAY PAUL!

Ash is less than thrilled to see him.
*whisper* This is because he remembers what Cynthia
said about him and their connection with Chimchar.

I was also most pleased to see Aaron and Cynthia again. I just really find most of the "adults" in the show so FUNtastic. Even if some of the characters are less than awesome, they really make me smile.

Let's do this right!!!

OMG!! Gastrodon! My one true pink pokemon love! Yes, I know the eastern Gastrodons are blue, but my heart belongs to the western ones. *My Sam-Sam is one afterall and he is fabulous!*

Gastrodon!!! Of course I can't forget Beautifly *ILU2!*

Anywho, after this it gets into the actual plot which involves rivalry action and stuff like that. I don't know why, but I was highly amused by practically everything Paul did in this episode. Seriously, I LOL'd at him in every scene!

He hires Team Rocket to prune his Torterra. (LOL #1)
He has orange juice and a book. (LOL #2) And this expression!!! (LOL #3)
He's scoping Ash out behind some bushes. (LOL #4)
My Relic Badge, let me show you it. (LOL #5)

Gosh, this shouldn't be this hilarious, but it is! Also, when he starts talking with Brock about his brother's "failure" and how he refuses to be the same I mentally did a dance. Don't even get me started on how much I love the "Brandon is their dad" theory. It's so plausible it makes my brain implode with happiness. For now I'll just say that I'm currently enjoying THIS STORY by Shinneth

Blah, blah, blah Ash and Paul battle and Turtwig evolves. I really like how Turtwig wanted to be the one to battle. I love that little guy's personality!

It's like Torterra knew what was going to happen!
I love this guy with a passion. Paul's Torterra FTW!

I really felt for Grotle. Ash totally didn't understand and Grotle himself was confused and upset about not being able to do the same things as it used to. Then Paul had to go and be the lovely meany-face that he is and win the match. Poor Grotle! *huggles*

"No Ash, I don't want to hear your lame excuse of a pep talk."

This whole sequence made me wibbly. I really really wanted to give Grotle a big hug!

Then who should show up to help out? TORTERRA!!! Pokemon-Pokemon interactions without the humans around are probably one of my favorite things in the TV show as a whole. This part is no exception and I adore it!

Let Torterra show you how it's done

Oooooh! Gligar gets PWNED!

That's how we do it

Yes, yes. Absolutely loved the older Pokemon mentoring the younger. Ash & Co. show up and are all like Woo! Torterra, you're the best! High five...er nix that. Awesome Sauce! and etc.

Golly, gee whiz! Thanks Torterra! You're going to be the bestest Grotle ever now!

Grotle approves of this pep talk! ^_^

I think the best part of all this was that Torterra wasn't looking for a reward; it just wanted to help out its fellow evolutionary family member. It makes me wonder what it was like when Paul's Turtwig first evolved. Did Paul make the same mistake as Ash? Did his Grotle feel the same inadequacy? It's interesting. It's also nice to know that yet another of Paul's Pokemon has a somewhat pleasant personality, unlike their trainer. Remember Electabuzz back in Veilstone?

"You're a curious one, aren't you."

In general this episode had a good balance of things that kept me happy. We got some E4 action, Paul vs Ash action and best of all, Grotle and Torterra! I must say sometimes these new DP Pokemon episodes leave me feeling quite pleased. (I MEAN IT'S POKEMON!!! WTF?) I almost want to go back and watch the original Indigo League seasons and see if I get the same feelings. (I used to really dislike this show.)

Random Pic: I laughed hard at this screencap. Dawn's face is obscured by Grotle, Grotle is staring off into space (or at the "camera"), Pikachu is smiling at Paul, Paul is focused on Chimchar, and who knows what Ash is looking at (definitely NOT Paul). (LOL #1562)

So... TL;DR - I like Paul, I like his Torterra even more, and this episode was a lot of fun and felt great.
