[Three strikes and you're out, or so went the phrase. Not that Light particularly cared for baseball metaphors, but Ryuzaki? Law Enforcement? Bakeries? ....Had it really been too much to hope for that if Light had to wake up in some ridiculous world, with some ridiculous Pokemon that it would at the very least be free of this goddamn nuisance?]
I never thought you to be the type to engage in pleasantries. -Tsuki
A pleasure to see you haven't strayed off too far from our chain. It was rather unfortunate to wake up and see that the handcuffs attached to my wrist were unlinked.
It seems we have been kidnapped. At least they had enough sense to send you with me.
Likewise. Imagine how distraught I was by our physical separation. However fondly I look back on those memories, perhaps forces unknown felt as though we deserved a break from one another. Let us keep it that way.
Words as smooth as always, Light-kun. Still, I think it would be best if we traveled together nevertheless. Perhaps not handcuffed, but wouldn't you like to be able to return to the Kira case as soon as possible?
I think if we fulfill our roles as decided, we should be allowed home.
[He scoffs. Luckily, or unluckily for L, neither that nor the glare Light is giving his pokegear is conveyed by text.]
What kind of question is that Ryuzaki? Of course I would like to return to the Kira case as soon as possible. [I'd also like to see you dead.]
If you think travelling together will be the fastest way for both of us to "fulfill our roles" as you put it, then I will happily agree. But first, prove to me that you are not an impostor. What was the last thing you remember doing before you woke up here?
I'd rather hear what the last thing you remember was first. I've talked to an acquaintance of mine when I arrived here, there's something that's been nagging at the back of my head because of it.
So, since you are a suspect, it is without question that you should tell me first.
It only goes without question if no one is questioning it- which is decidedly not the case at this time, but I acquiesce. We won't get very far by dancing around each other's questions. The last thing I recall is being shocked that anyone in their right mind would grant you a piloting license. Now it's your turn to answer. What did your acquaintance say that is distressing you so?
Why ever would you wonder that? Any good upholder of the law should have a piloting license just in case. Any sort of license at that, even one to carry a gun. It's very helpful in most situations.
It's not so much what he said but how he looked. Last time I saw him he was thirteen yeas old and now he is at the prime age of nineteen. A curious thing, don't you think, when he mentions things about a certain case of ours! Of course, I will wait until we're in person to talk of such matters but for now...
August 2nd, 2002 is the last date I remember. I had just witnessed a date between you and Misa Amane. Unfortunately, what followed afterwards was a barbaric fight between the two of us which I expect an apology for post haste!
Your wisdom on these matters is truly inspiring. If you're suggesting a time paradox, I am glad that I can expect to laugh heartily at a later point in the future. Not at your expense of course.
And I encourage you to keep any expectations you may have of me, realistic. I would not want you to die while waiting with bated breath.
I never thought you to be the type to engage in pleasantries.

How morbid of you, Light-kun. I do not expect to die anytime soon.

It's merely an expression, Ryuzaki. As a detective, shouldn't you know not to search for deeper meanings where there are none?

I wouldn't be a very good detective if I did that.
