History: Aselia Wiki Wiki Translated ND video 1 Tranlated ND video 2 Translated ND video 3 Translated ND video 4

Um, sorry about that, but the Wikis are inaccurate to some degree so the videos help. The first one has some stuff in the comments too.

Personality:

At first glance, Dhaos really does appear to be the typical crazy villainous sort that one would encounter in a video game from that time period. His actions definitely show it, but at heart, he's not really a bad person, he just thinks the end is far more important than the means. He definitely will attempt diplomacy, but if that fails, then he will consider far more drastic actions.

But truly, he's not crazy, just lacking in morals really. To him the most important things are the people of Derris-Kharlan, and the mana seed he seeks out. Obviously his own life means a lot too. Anyone outside of that to him is merely either a tool to use, or a potential sacrifice, or even both. He would not hesitate to kill someone after they are of no use anymore, as was evidenced with Mars Udole.

Even though he is lacking in morals, he is not going to go on a rampage and kill everyone. He is actually very capable of acting civil. In fact, he even shows himself before the party and does not attack them. This is mostly due to the location since it is by the Great Tree, and he wishes no harm to come to it.

Had it not been for the fact that the people of Aselia were draining the mana of their own world at such a rapid pace, he may well have come and gone in peace once he accomplished his mission. He had no wish to harm the tree or the planet itself, he only wished to save his own planet.

So overall, he's basically just in a way a really crazy environmentalist concerned with saving one tree in particular, and a self proclaimed savior of his people. As long as neither of those is being threatened, and he's not being attacked, he's quite capable of civility, could even be reasonably charming if the situation demanded it. It was just that Aselia did not give him the option of being civil.

Strengths:

Physical: Dhaos is an amazing sorcerer. His magical powers are incredibly fearsome and his infamous Dhaos Laser is quite capable of killing a person with little trouble (of course this would be powered down in Luceti).

He is capable of hand to hand fighting, but overall, he much prefers to use magic rather than let an enemy get that close.

Dhaos also does have two forms he can transform into (they are mentioned in the first wiki article), these would only be used if he is cornered and facing strong enemies who won't die easily. In one of those forms, he does have wings like those that Colette has, so chances are these powers wouldn't be able to be used unless the power cap was lifted also.

Mental: Dhaos does have telepathic abilities and has used these abilities to convince others to free him. Of course he ended up killing this person, but still, he has the ability to contact people even while he was sealed away.

Dhaos also does have time travel abilities, these of course will not work correctly in Luceti with the power cap on (see note below for proposal on how this will work in Luceti). He also will not hesitate to use this to ensure his continued survival.

Emotional: Dhaos is definitely extremely patient. He also can be very manipulative. He has no problem making promises to gain followers. Once those followers are of no use to him, he will sacrifice them.

Weaknesses:

Physical: Dhaos is very weak against magic. Plain and simple, if someone uses magic against him, he's a complete pushover. That being said, if he sees magic being used against him, his first instinct is to time travel and get the hell out of there. He will fight, but he definitely has a keen sense of self preservation. It is only by locking his time travel abilities that the party is eventually able to beat him.

This is not to say that Dhaos is a coward, truly he isn't, he's perfectly willing to stand his ground when it comes to it in fact. He just has a very keen sense of self preservation. He has a very important goal and if he dies, well so do his people.

Mental: Dhaos is pretty much obsessive to a degree. When he sets up a goal for himself, nothing or no one will get in his way. He doesn't care about honor or courage, he only cares about getting the job done. Obviously his plans and actions may well displease many people.

Emotional: Dhaos is an extremely cold-hearted individual. While he has good intentions, realize this man thinks genocide is a perfectly fine solution for the problem of mana being used in large amounts. While he tried the diplomatic route first, since that failed, he went for a far less acceptable route.

Also, it is revealed in the drama CDs that he actually did fall in love with a woman on Aselia, but she refused him because of his intentions for the world. There was also a woman on Derris-Kharlan, but she died to give him the power to time travel. Needless to say, his heart will be very guarded from feeling anything soft towards anyone.

So yeah, he's not exactly going to be friendly, but as long as someone is no threat to him, he's not going to try and do anything to them. Dhaos is very capable of civility.

Samples

First Person: That first person sample with Balir's app was a fluke, so Q&A for this one too.

Third Person:

What in the...?

Dhaos was definitely very confused. True, he expected to be in a different place than that damn mausoleum he'd been trapped in and just released from, but this wasn't it.

He never failed with that magic. But either that happened, or those damn annoyances caused something to go wrong.

What happened did not matter. What mattered was that wherever this was, he could not remain. He needed to get back, to rid the world of that damned magitech that was destroying the tree and to save his own people.

He couldn't waste his time here, many would die if he failed. That was a very unacceptable outcome.

He tried the magic again, if something happened then, using it again to go to the right place should fix things, right?

He could see the light of time travel appearing, and then disappearing. He had not moved from this spot. Something was definitely very wrong here. Something was blocking the magic. He couldn't have failed at it, the light wouldn't have shown if that were true.

Once the light vanished he then also noticed something else wrong, what had happened to his clothes? He was wearing just a pair of white pants that would give no protection whatsoever from even a breeze, much less anything else.

That prompted him to looked around. Maybe the thief was still close at hand. He'd get his clothes and then kill the thief. It was that simple.

But yet all he could find was trees, unfamiliar trees at that. They were definitely not the trees that existed on either planet. The Great Tree also was not anywhere to be found. He looked down more towards his feet, maybe there was some clue, or a trail to be found. Anything that could lead him to the one who had the nerve to steal from him.

And he found a small pile that consisted of his clothes neatly folded up and a book lying on top of it. Well, that at least solved one problem. He picked up his clothes and put them on.

When he got to his shirt, there was definitely a problem. He found the wings and they were definitely getting in the way. He tried putting on the shirt over them, but that didn't exactly work too well. Of course the addition of wings was a reason for concern also. Touching them, they didn't feel like the ones he could have if he used that one power. They felt pathetic, tiny, worthless.

He was not liking this one bit. There were more important things to do than to deal with whatever this was.

The problem was, how was he to get out of wherever here was?

Note: I'm perfectly willing to power down Dhaos' time travel ability to instead allow him to teleport anywhere within Luceti, but no traveling through time with that. So basically he can travel within space as long as it's within the barrier, but not within time any more as long as he is here and the power cap exists.

If the power cap is taken down, then any manipulations of time will be cleared with the mods before they happen. Does that sound fair? The rest of his magic will be at half power unless noted otherwise in the app. I'm very aware that Dhaos is incredibly powerful and also lacking in morals. Thankfully what he is after doesn't exist in Luceti so he should be a good boy, mostly.
