nothing for ages then a silly post about books, haha.
ive decided to keep track of everything i read this year. asterisks will be used for anything i've read before.
so far:
the hour i first believed by wally lamb
the lovely bones* by alice sebold
pretty dead by francesca lia block
i first read she's come undone by wally lamb when i was ten, rifling through my mom's collection of oprah's book club books. i read i know this much is true by him a few years later. i guess he took a 9 year break before publishing the hour i first believed and i was crazy excited to see he'd written another book. he has a way of making his characters seem like more than characters, more like real people. you become so attached to them. reading his words again was like catching up with an old friend- his style of writing is so familiar to me, and comforting. his newest book did not disappoint me in the least.
i feel like while i enjoyed the lovely bones, i didn't like it as much as when i first read it.
and i hate to say it, but francesca's last few books that i've read have not lived up to my expectations of her writing. it took me forever to get through quakeland; i kept putting it down to read things that were more interesting to me. i breezed through pretty dead and i'm not sure how i feel about it... i didn't love it but i didn't hate it either. and this saddens me, because i remember that i couldn't stop reading girl goddess #9 for weeks after i first read it. it was enthralling.
feel free to recommend anything you've enjoyed reading. i've been using books like a drug lately- a means of escaping what i'm feeling or not feeling. it's just as effective and way less harmful, haha.
