Discussion time!
Do you think writing an essay trying to disprove the rival ship to one's OTP is pointless, or does it depend on how it's written? I personally don't see the point myself...writing an essay on why it doesn't do anything for you or why you don't think it'd work is one thing, but dismissing all the canon hints as fabrications of the dub, subverting the hints and claiming the Japanese creators hate the ship seems silly to me.
(Fortunately, the linked essay is actually quite civil and coherent and takes care not to bash Misty. For that I can give it credit. And yeah, I'm aware it's probably old, but it's a mere example and nothing else.)
