I understand that one can dislike a character, it's completely rational considering everyone has their own preferences.

I've come across some interesting posts in the past, and just one recently in some random forum, where people discuss which characters are their favourite and which aren't. These usually lead to bashing but in this particular one, many of the posts are fine as there are quite legitimate reasons and not the usual 'she's a slut/whore/etc.'

The problem?

Being attacked by either a fan of the character or someone who is 'anti-bashing'. There are characters that don't appeal to me or I'm just neutral about and I'm assuming there are many others who are like that. It's very frustrating to be attacked and accused of 'character-bashing' when in fact, reasonable or logical opinions are being stated - it's as if the definition of character-bashing = saying anything negative about a character.

I define character-bashing as disliking a character for shallow/unlogical/untrue/jealous reasonings such as calling a character useless when in fact, she is not and is only bashed on the basis of being female (Haruno Sakura, anyone?).

Not every negative thing said about a character = bashing, people.
