Plum Parfum: Tomoe Yukishiro

And here we have a small defense or one of my favorite characters in Rurouni Kenshin.

Ah, the RK fandom has quite its way with bashing. And one of the main pillars of it is... the KenshinxTomoe fanbitches against the KenshinxKaoru fantards. Sheeesh, can't you fucking have some bits of respect for each other?

Since Kaoru has been defended before, I'm standing up for Tomoe. As a major Kenshin/Kaoru fangirl who loves and respects Tomoe-san, I *need* to do so.

* Tomoe was an evil bitch! She wanted Kenshin to die and made Enishi go mad!

Tomoe was troubled, sad, and consumed with all she hid for years. Since her mother's death, she practically supressed the majority of her emotions to keep her emotional stability... and this didn't allow her to show how much she loved Akira Kiyosato, her childhood friend and fiancé. She was quite a wreck when she finally lost him to Kenshin/Battousai's sword - and she had all the right to be upset, since she blamed herself for Kiyosato leaving and then dying.

But this never meant she was ev0l, as you say. She was more misguided than fully cruel; she wanted to punish the one who took her first love away from her, thinking at first that *he* was the cruel one. When she learnt that Kenshin wasn't as evil as she thought, she started to change her mind and came to love him. (She does refer to him in both manga and anime as "my second love", so canon is with me).

And Enishi? Gee, love the guy though I do - he brought his misery and madness *onto himself*. HE was the one who chose to think that Tomoe would be pleased with Kenshin's death. That's something Tomoe would've never ever wanted - in the OAV, when kid Enishi visited her few days before her death, she even told him to go home and stop thinking about revenge. But he didn't, and you know what happened.

* Tomoe is a cold ice princess!

Not showing your feelings doesn't mean you don't have them. See above, please. Tomoe DID suffer through all her ordeals, and it's canon. She says so herself in the third OAV, when she tells Kenshin about her past the same night they have sex.

* Tomoe can't compare to Kaoru! Kaoru is MUCH, MUCH BETTER!

.... Oooooookay.

IMHO, *both* Kaoru and Tomoe were suited for Kenshin - *each one at the time*. Tomoe was the first one; she was with him in the times when he was the Battousai, the apparently cold murderer that was starting to get tired of killing. She loved Kenshin quietly, supported him when he needed her, and ultimately died trying to atone for her own sins and attempting to help him when he was about to die.

Had it not being for Tomoe, Kenshin would've continued his mission as the Battousai, and either end up completely hardened and embittered, or he would've died just like Kiyosato. Tomoe was the person who gave him the motivation to change his lifestyle, swear not to kill again, and have a pacific life... yes, the one he found and shared with Kaoru. So, in a sense... if Tomoe never was there for Kenshin, he would've never ended up with Kaoru. She can't be in the way of a couple she unintentionlly helped to bring together.

'Sides, am I the only one who watched the Seishouhen OAV and noticed *how similar adult!Kaoru was to Tomoe*? So, if you insult Tomoe, in a way you may be insulting Kaoru. STFU.

And that's all I have to say by now. * bamfs *

character a vs. character b, bashers suck, crying "third wheel", rurouni kenshin
