Hi! I decided to join this community after reading a lot of people's opinions on here, & I simply love this. ^^ I've always happened to adore the most hated characters of anime who are bashed because they are cute, sweet, ditzy, want to protect their friends or is the main love interest of the story. I just think it's really.. immature to hate characters, or pairings because your fandom spins in another direction.
My favorite character of all time is Yuuki Miaka, who is severely bashed for so many things that it's insane. And I love Tamahome with all of my little heart, but you don't see me writing anti-Miaka rants or stories because I want Tama-baby for myself. :o
I noticed since Yuu Watase's Genbu Kaiden came out, more & more fans look to Takiko and make up more reasons to hate Miaka. Now, I admit that reading the Genbu story has made me start to like Takiko.. A LOT, but, my love for Miaka is not changing. I can see why though, Takiko is starting to be more of an interest to the fans. Her character happens to be more mature, given her circumstances. Genbu Kaiden is expected to be darker and more serious than the original Fushigi Yuugi, because we already know the fate of the Priestess of Genbu.
This is in contrast to Miaka, whose character is a lil ditzy & through her mistakes, became an easy target for people to hate her. But we all make mistakes. Since when is being human, a crime? Girls in particular who have seen this anime can relate to Miaka so much. She went through a lot of what we go through today; dealing with the pressure to do well in school, pleasing her mom, falling in love, choosing between your best friend and boyfriend, failing... Miaka deserves much credit for handling all of this without completely falling apart. Not to say Takiko won't be going through any of this herself. I really like Takiko, and many of the other FY characters. I'm sorry for this long intro, but, being the huge FY fan that I am, I usually have tons to say. But no worries, I won't spoil anything!
Hmm. Other loves are Kawai Shizuka, Mazaki Anzu, Honda Tohru, Higurashi Kagome, Kikyo, Kumashiro Sakuya & Tachikawa Mimi. I have others, but those are characters who I've roleplayed and defended for a long time now. ^^; I look forward to reading more here, and adding my own opinions later. Bye~!
