Has anyone else noticed this?
It seems to me that the really cute, adorable "I wanna give them a hug" kind of characters are actually very widely hated.
Examples: Shippo from Inuyasha, Toboe from Wolf's Rain, and occasionally Momiji from Fruits Basket.
Now, I don't get this, really, except for the possible "they're cute and USELESS" syndrome, or possibly the getting in the way of a shipping as usual (though I don't know WHAT shippings Shippo and Toboe would get in the way of).
I'm afraid I just don't get it. The cute characters, yeah, they might be a little weak. But there are reasons. Toboe and Shippo are both very young, basically kids in comparison to the crew they travel with. Momiji is the comic relief (and so are Shippo and Toboe a lot of the time).
Am I the only one who's seeing hate for these sort of characters? Admittedly, Toboe doesn't get get quite as much, but that's because he's Sued to Paradise and back again.
