Am I the only one in the Slayers fandom that actually LIKES Lina, I mean, come on, she can't be THAT selfish. She did give herself to ensure Gourry would survive

I've only seen the first season so far but I don't get this either. Aw, for heck's sake, who could not like Lina? She is indeed independent and strong and if she doesn't mope around after Gourry, good for her. She kicks butt and she sticks by her friends when it counts.

And while I respect that people don't want to ship the canon pairings, as I don't in many shows, in this one I happen to go canon (and I always thought many other people did too?) I guess that's a matter for hated_pairings? But for the record I really don't see what's to hate about this one, in fact I have a cute little Gourry/Lina doujinshi.

Sure! I don't read so much in Slayers because as I said I've only seen the first season. But go ahead and send me links and I'll check them out.

As for Lina, she was never my favorite character, as I tend to prefer quiet smart types, but she is a great character to have in a show. I know some people who can't stand Slayers because they don't like her and I've never understood that. I've also never understood the thrill of pairings that go against obvious canon pairings. It just makes no sense.

It just makes no sense.Well I do have a few that go against canon (or against obvious or implied pairings)... not sure I'd say there's a "thrill" but sometimes it's fun to say "Hey, what if A and B hooked up, how would that work?" and write a fic on it... and sometimes I get to where I really like A x B
