things are a little slow for a monday night, so i'm spending time transferring some vinyl only releases to my laptop. it's a bit of a hassle because i have to move my computer across the room and had to figure out why i was having some grounding problems. i have this really great shareware program called click repair that analyzes the resulting recording and filters out any pops, cracks, or surface noise. i think it's for both the mac and windows. first up is the kammerflimmer kollektif remix LP. i have some old records from a band called thin red line who later became the clear and then ended up as lung. they had a couple of albums in the US on restless in the early '90s. i got on a lung kick and ended up borrowing these old thin red line LPs from my friend rich. i would have bought the clear's live stomach album from rad rockers in like 1991. weird. after that, i have a bunch of LPs from this late '60s surf band called the stylers. i found a couple of 45s in malaysia a couple years ago and i was blown away by the situation and then by the music. pretty cool obscure stuff. some malaysian guy was selling the LPs on ebay and ended up buying like 6 or 8 of them. i have a bunch of the table of the elements one sided LPs and may transfer them over if i am ambitious. that might impress you,
wishthesame, if you're out there. i got like 4 more in the mail today since they found some at the warehouse and i'm on the insider track.
i gotta get in the zone for tomorrow night. my philadelphia friends and i are starting up our super record nerd record listening club. think book club, but it's music oriented. we do read related things some times, but we do listen to a lot of things. sometimes there's mp3 homework. it's geek central for sure. i got this dvd from netflix called drift that has a lee renaldo soundtrack. i'm sure that there will be some kind of ambient wanking, so that will be good fodder for the meeting.
i'm excited because thumbsucker is on it's way here from netflix.
jessypie and i were thinking of going to see it when it was in theaters, but it was there for like 12 minutes and disappeared. it's mike mills' full-length debut. he did a weird documentary on paperboys a little while ago and my friend andy was his intern. i think he did some slave labor for the film back in the day. i think mike mills and miranda july are an item? i don't know. anyhow, i want to see this movie and hope it's good.
