i am exhausted. my body is achy from tiredness. my kid, thankfully, is watching barney, eating goldfish and ricecakes. he is slowly but surly getting into t.v, and while i try to keep it at a moderate amount, i must admit i am fucking thrilled. this mama needs some wake up time to transition into the world of the living after a restful night consisting of 2.5 hours of sleep. ugh.

last night was a good night at work. we have a really cool crew there right now. al the clients get along really well and all hang out together. (well, we got a new one in last night and he is the only non-african american youth there right now, so we'll see if he meshes. all the other youth are so laid back that i have a feeling he will, at least to a point.) there is a real sence of community.

two of my clients called me at like 8 last night and said they wanted to cook spaghetti for dinner when they came in (they promised before ten, so folks would still be awake to eat). they asked me if we had certain ingrediants in the house, and the only thing they needed that we didn't have was sausage. i told them when they got back i'd take then to the store for it.

then another client was there and we were talking about art and poetry and collaborativly decided to start painting the kitchen, which is this dull mustard yellow color with periwinkle trim (yeah, i'm serious). we decided to start painting mini-murals on the cabinet fronts, so we each did one and another client started one, and they are lookin' good. i'm gonna do more tonight.

the client who started the cabinet mural heard that the ladies were cooking spaghetti for dinner, and he said he wanted to cook with them. i asked him what he wanted to make, and he said chicago-style chicken wings. he told me to get the wings and some louisiana hot sauce at the store. and soymilk. the kid is an addict.

when the other youth got in we went to the store, me and three kids, and we all laughed a lot. they made fun of my poor driving and i asked them if they wanted to walk. "aw, naw, i'm straight, s'coo." i bought them each a bottle of soda and a pack of newports to split. dinner was so good. it wasn't ready until really late, like almost midnight, but everyone was still up, so it was great. the two youth i'd left behind with my co-worker, ade, claned up all the paint and wiped down the kitchen while we were at the store without even being asked. my boss says he's excited to see our artwork.

today i need to help my sister with a presentation for school, drop off some voter registration cardsfor some clients of mine, let suzee's dogs out. i thought of going to this new coffeehouse i saw up on 35th and cedar called eclectic coffee. i had been going to mayday cafe all the time, but a coworker of mine informed me that the owner is known to commit sexual assult and that folks have been boycotting the cafe, so i haven't been there since. i but i miss it, because it was pretty kid friendly and only a few blocks away and all the cute dykes work there. but it was too expensive anyway.

i also want to make anoher batch of chili and some pumpkin muiffins. need to put cranky kid down for nap.
