So the other day I was discussing the sad reality of anti-Semitism and it's deep-rooted history. It started when a co-worker, who is amused by my range of weird and often non-useful knowledge gave me a topic to enlighten her upon. Fairy Tales ( Read more... )

me too! so we're boosting the offensiveness count or something. weird!

I wonder what other words can trigger that -- I tried replacing "jew" with what is called "the n word" (and i honestly have a hard time saying it for various reasons) (but written out in the search box, since i'm trying to trigger the offensiveness filter....) and nothing! But we have lots of other minorities falling in thorns with what I would consider offensive terminology, and no google sponsored apology!

As a jew, I demand google apologize on behalf of everyone else, too!

I plan to try the exact same searches with "Christian" and Muslim".

I found your post interesting and, to some extent, hilarious. I'm Jewish, but I see no good coming from the suppression of history and literature under any circumstances. It's pretty obvious that Google's motivation, understandably, is to try to head off complaints.

The thing that gets me is that he's screwed by his boss, granted.... but he takes it all out on the Jew, who we're supposed to automatically assume is evil by nature.

He had every right to take issue with his boss over payment, but what did this guy do to him? And why the hell is a magical dwarf giving out magic presents for meager amounts of gold. You'd think he could find some dude to bestow gifts on and hang around with *him* so he wouldn't be so poor.

I think the only moral to the story is "Here how people think when they are creating scapegoats of others".

*shrugs*

I tried searching for other words that I thought they'd apologize for, but they seem to only care about Jews. Nice.
