Sitting on the school roof during lunch hour, Shishido was leaned haphazardly against the wire mesh that surrounded the edges to keep students from jumping off to their death. Funny, it was actually interesting that this school had had so many suicides it had to put it up. Hardly surprising though. Sighing heavilly Shishido tucked his hands behind his head as he glanced over the side to see the busy life around the school campus. Girls chittered away with their friends, some guys had started playing a game of basketball and over all it was a sunny and normal day.
Currently he was avoiding most of his classes and teachers, wondering if his brother had asked for them to look out for him, he really didn't want anything to do with his homelife right now.
A few feet away some pigeons were picking at the remains of his lunch, or rather the lunch he hadn't felt like eating. Just some bread really. He sighed again.
During this hour, Sanada would find himself on the roof, doing zen meditations or practicing calligraphy. However, he'd decided to simply eat a bento he'd made for himself and allow himself to meditate in silence -just hearing nature on its own. Peaceful and quiet, and aloof to any life forms other than the birds, he found a table to sit at and gently, nimbly unwrapped the bento.
His dark eyes watched watched his lunch, a black cap settled on his head -which he would only put on when outside, for common curtesy. It had actually been a gentle day, that day, and for once, he allowed himself to appreciate nature for what it was.
Hmm? Well that was unusual, there was someone else up on the roof today? Oh... wait he was the unusual, he usually took his lunch hours in the cafeteria. Glancing over at the strange male a touch curiously, more from the fact that he was more interesting then passing cars in the street, Shishido simply watched the male.
What a terrifyingly powerful aura. Tilted his head slightly to look at Sanada, he observed the man for a bit, amused that every movement of his seemed purposeful and elegant, not a waste speck of energy.
Now that is a scary man. Must be a yakuza. Shishido thought jokingly, and sobered at that thought. He was reminded of just how unfit that life was for him.
He could feel someone watching him, picking at his meal with the chopsticks he'd pulled together with one hand. Jerking his arm to pull up his sleeve, Sanada had just been about to eat, when his narrow eyes caught sight of the young man who'd been watching him.
His eyes bore into the others, questioning what had been so interesting about him wanting peace and quiet while he ate lunch that day. Perhaps he'd been hungry? Who knew, but he hoped the guy would speak up soon.
GinryuKnight: That... was a really intense gaze. Seriously. Shishido felt a shiver run up his spine as he swallowed a little neverously, but was not about to be intimidated by some stranger he didn't even know the name of. Instead he tried to return the dark glare (a touch less intimidating one might note) as he nodded in a somewhat friendly manner to Sanada.
"Hi." Was all he said.
... which was kind of lame. Shoot.
Huh. So the boy tried to act tough. Tried, as the keyword. Sanada 'hmphed' in amusement, eyebrows raising before continuing back to his lunch.
"Good evening." Was all he said in return. He looked like a weakling, but Sanada gave him credit for having the guts to say hello. Impressive, he supposed, dipping a sushi roll into the sauce and eating it.
Cool customer, maybe Shishido should just drop it. However he just... he really disliked the way this guy seemed to regard him. As if he were nothing more than an ant to be crushed. The bastard...
"My name is Shishido Ryo. You?" He asked blankly as he shifted a bit, his sore ass getting a touch uncomfortable from having been sitting for too long. Really, sometimes he should just stop.
"Sanada Genichirou." He said after he'd completely chewed and swallowed his food, peering up to the other from beneath the bill of his cap.
"Is there something you need?" Sanada question him, not yet eating another particle of food just yet, least the youth answered again...Which he probably would.
A shrug was Sanada's response as Shishido turned his gaze to the sky now, wistful in hoping it would become a little less cloudy so that the sun would shine through. Inwardly though he was quaking.
Oh Jesus Christ, Sanada. Kendo club president and Yukimura's puppy. Fuck I just consigned myself to death. Why had he never remembered before Sanada mentioned his name? He must have seen the tall male in the club somewhere before. But he already knew the answer to that, he had been too busy running away from the girls to noticed anyone else in major detail. And now that he and Yukimura... shit.
But Sanada seemed calm, and it was actually Shishido who had sought him out... right? Or maybe that's what Sanada wanted him to think....
"Oh... n-nothing." He replied lightly in a slightly nervous voice.
Why was he losing face just yet? Sanada watched Shishido again, -peering into his eyes, glaring at his soul and burying his existance into the other's heart. He was hiding, and so suddenly, but deciding not to say anything, went back to eating his limp in silence.
"Hn."
Well, it seemed Sanada was unaware of the situation, or he was just lying low until Shishido dropped his guard. Ugh, this was too confusing. About to go back to watching the cards go by, he blinked when a familiar ring tone went off and glanced at his pocket as he fished out his cellphone and flicked it open. He winced. The seventh time today, they weren't giving up. With a sigh he flipped it open.
"What?" He grumbled, it wasn't fair to be mean to his brother... but still, he just really didn't want to speak to his family right now.
"Ryo, you gotta come back." Came the audible voice of his brother and it carried on the silent rooftop. "You know mom was ... just come back okay?"
"Not until she apologizes herself. I'm sorry aniki, but it's my choice." Shishido growled and rubbed his temples in a severe migraine.
"Look, it's complicated, you know how she- oh forget it, where are you? Are you at school?"
"No, I'm getting drunk in a bar, see you aniki." And he flipped the phone shut. Geezus, they didn't give up. With a sigh he got to his feet slowly, moving with care due to sore appendages and limped towards the door, no longer caring about Sanada or what he thought.
Sanada wanted nothing to do with Shishido's phone conversation, and instead continued to eat his lunch with a scowl. So much for a quiet day.
A curly red-headed figure, which had been up in ponytails, opened the door to the roof, climbing up the steps with his partner in pun in toll behind him. A angered, serious expression was on his features -one that told him he meant business. However, he stopped in his tracks, bounding around the railing, when he'd spotted two cap-wearing teens. An older one, and....Shishido. He'd been quietly ready to go back in, and had even turned back on his heels, ready to depart. Why couldn't they have sex on the roof?
Bane was chuckling softly, Dabide was ever so strange at times. It was hard to tell when he was serious and when he wasn't as he was dragged by the redhead up to the roof. It was then that he spotted two teens, one he didn't recognize who looked like he had a bad muscle strain, and the other...
"Oh? Hey Sanada-kun." Bane greeted the other cap wearing individual rather warmly consdering Sanada looked like he wanted to kill a puppy or something.
Shishido blinked as he stared at the sudden appearance of the redhead. "Eh... Dabide...-san..." He mumbled looking highly embaressed.
Sanada looked up, having almost finished his meal, when he'd heard his name called. It was a familiar voice, but alas his gaze had caught another student of his. Or rather, former -due to the injury of his arm. A ghost of a smirk was upon his lips as he nodded in greeting to the other male.
"Kurobane." He remembered him, always calling others by their last name instead of those silly nicknames. "How is your arm?"
Dabide looked to Bane, than back to this Sanada person, and had he been in the right mood, would have definitely punned in. Instead, he looked to Shishido -who to his surprise, had spoken to him.
"Shishido-san." He said simply, not allowing himself to show how upset he'd been over the comment. Worried, of course, but Dabide hardly look to being disregarded that way -whatever the reason may have been.
Bane smiled and held up said arm.
"Done for the semester, but I'll be fine before summer kicks in. Thanks for asking, how's the team looking?" He asked conversationally, genuinely interested in wondering how the kendo club was doing in his abscence.
Shishido winced, that cold reply was well deserved. He'd known his response had been mean, and completely unfair to a man who had up until this point been only a good and concerned friend. But... Shishido plastered a false smile on his face. "Well... I'll be going, later."
"Sure, can I ask why you're limping though?" Bane interrupted rather kindly. "If it's an injury you should get it checked out, leaving it alone may cause a huge problem later." He warned the brunette and watched in amazement as a blush burned across Shishido's cheeks. He glanced at Sanada for confirmation, injuries should never go unchecked he was sure.
Dabide would have left a long while ago, hadn't Bane been conversating and such. Remaining quiet and waiting fairly patiently, he watched Shishido -eyes narrowing. So he hadn't needed him around..because he'd found someone else? Limps like those never came from anywhere, and Dabide hadn't ever been bitchy enough to call something like that out front. So he looked away.
So that's how it was.
Sanada on the other would have responded to Bane's reported, nodding firmly, trusting that Bane would surely return when he heeled, but was bothered, or annoyed by the stale air. Too much tension, and he'd noticed it as well, looking to Bane to stop him.
"Shishido-san. Have you spoken with a counselor about it?" He asked sternly, looking at the other, holding him in a strong gaze.
Bane noticed how Dabide seemed to become a bit dejected and looked curiously at the redhead, his eyes conveyed his question "everything okay?". Despite the insensitive jerk he may seem to be, he did care a lot for his friends and the people around him, it made him become a little more curious at Shishido who looked like a trapped rabbit.
"Eh? Speak with... why? About what?" The brunette asked adjusting his cap and not meeting anyone's eyes as he inched towards the door. Sanada's gaze was lethal in making Shishido felt as if everyone could see what he'd done, it made him feel ever dirtier. His plan was slightly thwarted as Bane stepped in front of the door closing it quietly. Escape route cut off... next option: Jump?
Dabide said nothing to Bane's silent question, or did not gesture at all, keeping his stare everywhere but on Shishido.
Sanada, growing agitated by the mood, stood, roughly setting his chopsticks into his bento.
"That's enough! All of you, 50 push-ups!" He ordered, giving the bunch of them a stern, demanding gaze as he did so. This dramatic atmosphere was choking him, and he wouldn't stand for this crap -while he was trying to meditate on his lunch break. Dabide surely stared in shock, his teal eyes looking back at Sanada...And taking no chance to argue, immediately dropped to the ground. It was good exercise, something he hadn't done in a while.
Bane dropped on habit the minute Sanada ordered the push-ups and was already to 12 before he thought about what he was doing. Laughing slightly he continued, might as well go all the way to 50 since he was almost half way there. Shishido however simply dropped in surprise... on his rear. With a hiss of pain he glared at Sanada, then at Bane, then at Dabide. This was stupid.
"Like hell I will." He snapped back officially pissed. Maybe if he was lucky Sanada would put him out of his misery.
Dabide was definitely slower, but he knew if Bane did one more pushup...
Sanada had expected that; rape, and the boy was trying to hide it. Still, he did not show any mercy and crossed his arms, looming over the smaller teen -eyes watching him like a vulture to its prey.
"You'd rather foolishly -that- instead? Don't be an idiot." He stated, voice high in dominion like a lion's roar.
Sweat began to dot Bane's brow and though his breathing was a bit erratic he was hardly out of breath of even close to being tired. Pushing more off his good arm then his injured one, the curve of his muscles became more apparent through the exercise and the smile on his face was rather charming. He did however spare a concerned glance at Shishido, surely he wasn't so badly injured he couldn't at least make an effort, right?
Shishido paled. Oh gods, somehow Sanada knew he was going to rejoin his gang. How it related to not doing push ups he wasn't sure, but that gaze and voice declared Sanada knew everything about him right down to the piercings. Shivering slightly under that stare he looked at Sanada resolute as sweat broke out over his skin and he slid helplessly to the ground, anger and desperation on his face.
"What the hell else can I do!?" He snapped angrily.
Dabide growled..freaking Bane, and figuring Sanada wouldn't be paying attention, nudged at Bane and gestured for the door. There was always the bathroom.
"I may have to pull down my pants if you don't stop doing push ups." He said with a snicker, getting up and sneaking away as best he could -hoping Sanada wouldn't notice, Scary guy.
What else could he do? There were people the boy could talk to. Those who would help him. Not everyone in the world were -that- cold hearted. His stare did not faulter, and his voice did nothing to soften. "You can't just walk away and pretend this is nothing. It's serious. Treat it like it is! You're going, and you're talking to someone who can help you. Do you understand me?"
GinryuKnight: Bane glanced at Dabide curiously as he finished up his push ups, and scowled as Dabide spoke off another pun and was dragged away again. Waving a haphazard goodbye to Sanada as best he could, he stumbled and tried not to trip down the stairs as the redhead literally pulled him away.
"Oi Dabide, aren't you worried about that guy? He seemed to know you." Was Bane's light comment.
Okay, now Shishido was damned confused. Fortunately he was able to tell Sanada seeing as the male asked "do you understand me?" In response, Shishido opened his mouth and said flatly:
"No!"
"He doesn't need me." Dabide said as his features fell into a darkened expression, opening the door and promptly leaving out. Of course Shishido didn't need him. He'd apparantly had all the help he could get.
He'd actually been trying to help, but this boy was just...completely defiant. Sanada's brow twitched slightly, and he held himself back from doing what he'd really been tempted to. He didn't bother, and instead, shut down, dismissing the boy with a small, "hmph'. and retreated to his table to pack up his bent.
That red-haired boy hadn't finished his push ups. He had 23 more to go. He would deal with him later. And for this, Sanada said nothing, ignoring him completely.
If he didn't want help; there was nothing Sanada could do about it. He'd hardly the patience.
Bane blinked at the strange response, what had his friend so worked up? He vowed to find out later... when his arm wasn't being yanked out of his socket and they weren't about to get down and dirty in a school bathroom.
Hey- hang on. Sanada... was trying to help him, so why was he walking away now?!
"Hey- wait a second!" Shishido shot to his feet and winced at the too fast movement, before staggering after Sanada. Stumbling once more, he barely caught the sleeve of Sanada's jacket and prevented himself from falling face flat on the ground. Flinching slightly he straightened and glared up at Sanada, blushing slightly but determined. "L-look... I don't know what the hell I can do and talking to people isn't gonna help. They'll give me some bullcrap answer because they don't know my situation! I... I don't know what to do." He finished mumbling, aware he'd just spilled out half of his emotional turmoil to a near complete stranger.
Sanada turned, slightly surprised -but expectant at the same time- that the other seeked him out, asking for his help. He supposed this boy, Shishido, couldn't tell his parents, and was probably frightened over it. But first thing was first, he needed to know before he gave any advice. Always direct, he looked the other in the ears -peering at him sternly before asking quietly, careful to not embarrass him in the open.
"Was this consensual?"
A blush flared across his cheeks, Sanada made it sound like joining the Yakuza was akin to sex, which he sorely hoped it wasn't.
"... kind of. I... I did it of my own will but... it's not like I wanted to." He mumbled realizing how stupid that sounded and instead looked at his shoes, totally embaressed. The way he was wording this... it didn't sound right at all.
"-then why did you do it? The state you're currently in is pitiful, I hope you realize. -and I believe you do." He frowned. So he'd allowed this person to take advantage of him? Sanada didn't understand why Shishido would sacrifice his body that way, and frowned at the thought. Self Conscious? He needed backbone. Discipline. A clean frame of mind.
Perhaps working the boy to death would get him out of his own self pity. Sadly, he knew Shishido would be disregarded, as it was 'consensual'. Sanada couldn't dismiss this, either. A young, full of potential. He refused to see it be thrown away.
".. it was pretty stupid." He admitted after a moment and slumped his shoulders forward slightly. "I just... I was so fed up and it seemed like the only option now that I've thrown everything else away." He answered softly now aware of how miserable he must look. To be fair, he was pretty damn miserable but... talking to Sanada helped, if only a little.
"It still seems like the only option." He muttered quietly afterwards.
His gaze become a glare, and his voice raised -rejecting any tenderness he'd previously spoke to the other with. "Foolishness!" Sanada snapped loudly. "I've decided to set you up in a training program. You won't have time for self pity when I'm through with you. You will work before school, and after. You will not complain. This will make you self aware and discipline, and from now on, I will hear NO complaints from you. Do you understand me Shishido Ryo?!"
Shishido literally jumped a few feet into the air as he stared at Sanada bewildered. Okay... apparently Sanada REALLY had something against the Yakuza.
"H-hai...." He answered a bit dazed and nervously as he backed up a few steps and half expected Sanada to start frothing at the mouth. He wondered what had brought this change about.
"I... uh... then.. what? You're going to look after me?" He asked confused, was Sanada going to take the place that the Yakuza were going to fill? A group, a home and somewhere to belong? That... seemed really weird.
"I SAID do you hear me Shishido Ryo?!" He said again, louder, but not screaming -his voice thunderous. Sanada straightened completely, hands behind his back as he stood -resembling a military personal. "I'm going to be keeping my eye on you, and I believe you are in the Host Club. Part time, you will be in the Kendo Club as well. I will not hold you from your Host Club duties. YOU will be looking after yourself, but best believe I will make sure you do nothing of further foolishness."
He wondered what Yukimura would think of this; taking in this depressed boy and molding him into more of a man. Not a machine, but not a linky little resemblance of a rodent either.
"Y-yes sir!"? Was that the right response? Shishido straightened and found he should run, and very fast. But... was this really so bad?
Uh, hello? Yukimura's puppy?! He'll kill you! His inner voice warned him and yet... Shishido decided maybe he could go along with this, really, what harm could it do? ... was he supposed to salute?
Sanada nodded, happy with the response.
"Hn. Meet me in the gym directly after Host Club. I'll expect to see you on time. Now go before you are late for class." He demanded, dismissing Shishido and watching him to make sure he went. Skipping classes. He wouldn't have any of that either.
"Y-yes sir!" Shishido repeated and scrambled for the door (half limping). Geezus, did Sanada know how scary he actually was at times? ... he still didn't see what this had to do with keeping him from joining the Yakuza.
Satisfied, followed after Shishido, shaking his head to the limp. He was a good kid, really. No seriously, he was.
Shut up.
sanada,
