Year 2009
So I had eschewed resolutions in favor of a credo to guide my goals and personal direction a few years ago. After 3 years of no changes to it, I will now try to set some goals within my tenets:
My Credo:
I will teach where I have knowledge, and I will learn where I do not.
Complete all books that I have started, Attain conversational fluency level in Japanese by 1 April, Learn first 2 years of kyouiku Kanji by 1 April, Learn Russian grammar and begin conversational fluency by end of year, take GRE by end of February.
I will crush mediocrity, for it benefits no one. I will lead by example.
Get to and keep my work level high and meet my personal commitments to others. Strive for "rockstar trajectory" at work.
I will give a hand up to those not as far as I.
Try to get more volunteer time in, specifically with the schools in the CD and Rainier Beach.
I will give a shoulder to stand for those ahead of me with eyes fixed skyward to see what is ahead.
Be supportive to my friends in school, to my daughter in all things, and make a real decision on grad school by the end of January.
I will not go quietly into the night, beaten down by my demons and decisions.
The world moves on, and I move with it.
I will be present in my decisions, live and love pragmatically, and enjoy life more than I have been this past year.
