WorldCon
So, based on the reservation timeframes, WorldCon plans need to be finalized by the end of this month if possible.
The travel dates will be 28 Aug to 4 Sept. The con runs 30 Aug to 3 Sept.
United (what I will be flying on due to upgrades, et al) currently has the flight at $840.90 (before taxes). It is labor day weekend, which is why it is a bit pricey *P
The main reason for the callout is hotel. I will see about getting info on Ryokans from a friend in the area, which numbers are important. Ryokans tend to run $40-60/night (less for the hostel-types), while the "official hotels" are running $100-300/night (and they charge per person per room so that is per person at 1-300).
The current GoHs are David Brin, Sakyo Komatsu, Takumi Shibano,Yoshitaka Amano, and Michael Whelan (yes, yarnaddict we can work something out on signatures here ;).
I also noticed that the girl in the logo looks a bit like my niece. How interesting.
At any rate, let me know ASAP if you can go, so I can determine what rooms we can and can't qualify for.
