Hazel's funeral Wednesday August 7th, 2013.

Aug 11, 2013 09:48

I missed the wake which was the night before but due to my work circumstances it could not be avoided.

The funeral was simple and straightforward with lot's of family, extended family, friends and neighbours. The grandsons carried the casket as per her wishes. There were at least a couple dozen cars in the funeral cortege to the cemetery. All along the route cars pulled over as a sign of respect for the deceased and family. My sister-in-law was surprised how far the funeral home was from the cemetery. When we got there it started to rain, proving the forecast for the day unreliable. We went to the local church she was active with for refreshment of sandwiches and baked goods that small country parishes put out when one of their own dies.

Good bye Hazel, you will be missed.
