AAMN november 14th, 2006
So we had AAMN at kusanivy's place for a change. I brought Diggy along to give her a change of scenery. This is a precursor to her going to Anime North to help her cope with the various fandoms there. So we admired the new set up in kusanivy's place. It does work better for work and play because you don't feel cramped anymore while watching tv and the workspace does have better natural lighting. I admired the two new projects she is working on.
We watched the new Hellboy animated movie, Hellboy:Sword of Storms. It was good on Japanese folklore with the various creatures like Kappas and Japanese vampires. I think the fans are right about Ron Pelrman becoming obsolete for the speaking part since Hellboy doesn't say much beyond "Oh Crap!" and "Screw this!".
My favourite line.
"Abe Sapien: You just made the newbie face."
We then watched Ultraman. Oh my, I can remember how cheesy this was but so exiting when you were a small kid. The first episode had some wrestling moves that lend themselves to our brains going straight to the gutter. It was still fun to watch if only for the orange uniforms and the stereotypical destruction of industrial zones in Japanese movies and TV monster series.
We followed that up with Fraggle Rock. sonic_assassin was not amused but managed to survive the experience. We watched "Marooned" which was the most serious episode of the series. I love The Trash Heap because she had big boobs.
We ended the evening with The Real Ghost Busters. We watched Mr Sandman, Dream Me A Dream. It was fun episode with a renegade Sandman putting the population of New York City asleep to give the world peace. And check the writing credit fan boys and fan girls.
So we had a pleasant evening and we started making plans for Anime North.
